I remember Spa 09, I was there lol. Only problem with that now though is the car isn't designed for major straightline advantages, they stopped doing that when they thought FI could contend for decent points at every gp. I do remember the crowd going nuts when Kimi overtook Fisichella and was just hounding him the whole way.
This the first time I don't want it to rain on qualifying and race day. If it does then Vettel will yet again get more luck. As for the result, I see a Hamilton win and that is not me being bias but Mclaren have a much stronger car at the moment and their powerful KERS, DRS and straight line speed should be a big advantage. Although I think they could struggle in sector 2 but hopefully they have some upgrades to improve downforce. Pole - Button Win - Hamilton
I think the McLaren thats more likely to win is Button. With the threat of changeable conditions, i can see another tactical masterclass coming from his side of the garage. Would love a force india or mercedes win though.
Yep Jenson is a good shout, even though I do think a good bit of his changeable conditions skill comes with good luck. It's nice to see before McLaren drivers are really in the running this race, fingers crossed Spa is usually awesome!
I thought they banned this DRS on Eau Rouge at the same time they banned it in the Monaco tunnel? http://www.yallaf1.com/2011/05/20/drs-ban-in-monaco-tunnel-and-eau-rouge/ EDIT: Andrew Benson has changed his title from "F1 considers DRS ban at famous Eau Rouge corner in Spa" to "F1 imposes DRS ban at famous Eau Rouge corner in Spa"
Your point? Mercedes powered cars are faster in a straight line, does not matter whether the activation point is before or after Eau Rouge.
No point, I quoted you by mistake. Well he's confirming what Maldonado's engineer said about the DRS zone. He does The Flying Lap and that's pretty good.
After such a long break it is difficult to predict but I also believe McLaren will be in with a fighting chance. If conditions are typical of Spa, it would seem likely to play to Button's strengths where he seems to read the race better than all others. Of course, the tyre disparity always appears magnified over a longer lap, and this will make it a no-brainer for qualifying unless there is a temptation to save the odd extra set for the race; but one must remember that whilst the lap is longer than average, this is offset by there being fewer of them to complete. If it's dry (or full wet), my money would be on Hamilton - with Vettel a fighting chance if he's on Pole. In changeable conditions, my punt is on Button, with a fighting chance for Alonso, Hamilton and even Webber.
Changeable conditions and it could become a lottery, if you've just started a lap when the rain comes down you'll get properly screwed. I'd love it if the heavens opened just after the front runners had gone through and someone like Petrov or Kobayashi jumped in the pits and nicked the win (would have to be quite late in the race of course, with a few safety cars along the way to keep them close).
I can't see a red bull on the podium, let alone challenging for a win. Too many straights, we know how bad the red bull is in a straight line.
More pubs will no doubt start showing F1 as well. There's also live streams but they're crap quality and can be temperamental.
