Which young manager is he blocking?

Apparently Eddie Howe is the second coming of Pep Guardiola.

Point I’m making is that the media constantly bang on about the influx of foreigners blocking the path for young British managers. When the issue is when you have the same old British managers like pardew pullis Allardyce etc getting the same gigs.

It's not about the here and now position, it's about the whole process of recycling the old has beens. There'll never be a chance for an up and coming young British manager while Big Sam, Pulis, Hodgson are going for the full set.

Doesn't Sam have a reputation for keeping a club up only for them to sink - and in some cases keep sinking - after he inevitably leaves.

Top clubs go for top managers, middling clubs go for middling managers and the rest take what they can get. If your club goes for Sam they will be joining the ranks of taking what they can get which won't be a very smart move.

Not English - but Liverpool and united took chances with Rodgers and Moyes (was Moyes young at the time?)

But this is the thing - British managers are expecting to fall into top jobs without doing the apprentice. You have the likes of Wagner and Stam plying their trade in championship.

And this is why clubs don’t progress because they give jobs to these has beens who are programmed to survive, instead of progress.

I can’t give you any names but surely you want someone who is fresh dynamic who will build for the long term instead of Fat Sam?

Both Liverpool and United. Moyes had over 10 years top flight experience.

Rodgers was a wee gamble, so yes. Maybe Liverpool took the plunge but it didn’t work.

I would like the club to look at other options, once PL survival is secured.

So secure PL survival and then look at ambition.

Surely you have seen us play (or try)
We cant defend we cant score we cant stop the opposition barging through our midfield now im no Rachel Riley but them there maths equal relegation...
If it takes Fat Sam to stop us getting relegated then stuff what people think about our ambition we need to stay in the PL first...

English managers need to go abroad. If you want to manage in Europe, want to manage in a league at the top, learn new skills and tactics go somewhere else rather than take it easy. Same for players.

Thing is, for players and managers, the money they can get managing a relegation Prem team or even a Championship teams will dwarf anything they can earn abroad.

The managers that annoy me are ones that are comfortable mid table but never look to win anything (cups). Maybe if they took the cups more seriously and actually won something then the big clubs would look at them a bit more as a manager with ambition and ability to win things.

How many try? Not even just the fa cup. But the LC. Or putting in some kind of effort in the Europa.

Why are teams like saints, West Ham, Stoke, Palace, who generally we’re always happily mid table trying to win a cup? How often do they stick out a weak team and go out early?

Even everton, Saints, West Ham when ty all got into Europa seemed to put half assed performance into things and go out early because it’s a nuisance.

Imo if they win 2 more games this side of Christmas then thry will have no issues at all surviving.

I totally agree on foreign experience, the no cup mentalities. several all but admit every time fa cup.rolls round they throw the comp.

if pardew gets West Brom job a very good bet is on the team they get in 3rd round.

it really really is sad for teams that yhe risk of 5 extra games costing them say 6-8 points is seen as far too big a risk..

i think newkie and Brighton and Watford should.be really trying for fa cup run this season based on their starts.

sadly i expect Everton, West Brom, Swansea, palace and bournemouth to all but throw the early rounds.


That said if jurgen klopp dares play a weakened team in fa cup i will be most upset. it must be a non league or league 2 side at home at worst for me to see more that 2 or 3 non senior players

I agree. they are actually disgraceful and imo the fa needs to serve notice at some point that in the future teams changed for cups = huge fine or closed stadiums to put an end to it.

No I haven't seen you play this season, only read about it.

As I said we aren't far enough into the season yet to need a fire fight. Too late now but Koeman was sacked too soon, coupled with no plan in place for when he was sacked is short-sighted madness. By getting Sam in you are sending out the message that you are desperate when you aren't at that stage yet imo. Plus what a detestable character he is, he shouldn't be anywhere near the PL never mind your club. Surprised you're ok with that.

We are in a mess and Koeman had lost it. Whatever way you look at it, we are in trouble and in danger of being sucked into a six/seven team fight.

You need to have watched our collapse from start of pre season, our poor run of away form spanning almost 12 months.
