Just seen the England team. You can see us being 20-3 very easily. Stokes does leave a very big hole lower down as well. Two of Stoneman, Vince and Malan need to do well (50+). But David Warner has a bad neck and Shaun Marsh a bad back, oh dear, how sad, nevermind.

The weather will be a bit hot & sticky, patchy rain predicted on and off, in short, annoying weather but nothing more.

Team batting first may find a greasy, quick pitch with bowlers making a go of it.

Wil be very interesting to see who wants to bat first.

It always used to be win toss and bat at the Gabba, has that changed Aussie?

Tramore, the Gabba never really been a ‘bowlers paradise ‘ but with a little rain and hot and sticky weather, the seamers may get a few quick wickets.

However, the batsmen may ride it out and crack on and build a good total.

Ah, the joys of another Ashes.

Ah, the joys of another Ashes.

It was Nasser Nussain who made the cardinal sin of winning toss and decided to bowl first and if memory serves me right the Aussies ended up close to 400/2 or 3 at the end of day 1, cracking decision........

Looking forward to this, could be a decent series.....

Starc has been in tremendous form including one match he took two hat-tricks in. But outside their three top pace men the rest of the Aussie quicks are nowhere near the same class. Hopefully the conditions may help Anderson who has never been that good over there. The England top order are suspect and Cook and Root may be doing their salvage operation yet again, I'd take a draw right now...

Nah, we MUST WIN, IT IS IMPERATIVE THAT WE WIN.

sorry, wrong thread. A draw would be very welcome. But we are holders of the Ashes, too much focus on the whitewash last time we were there.

I was out in Australia for the 2010 Ashes. Based in Perth and the day we won I was on the rocks fishing with my small radio. I cheered out loud which P'd off the others around me. I couldn't believe how the papers didn't really mention it. Talking about bad losers! They just brushed it under the carpet. Come on England!

I sincerely hope you’re not part of a losing @CricketAus team on home soil @NathLyon421. I still remember being sat on the outfield at the SCG after winning 3-1 while your press&fans were tearing into the Oz players. You want to end careers? Just make sure its not yours that ends

Right I'm off to bed.......

Please let it be in the morning that England won toss and are 300/3 and not all out for 125 with Australia 250/2.......

C'mon England....

How many are staying up?
I will probably watch first 2 overs then watch highlights at 9am.
