According to HIAG’s Cambridge degree certificate. He’s in his early 70’s

That is unless he downloaded it from the internet.

Oh I went to Uni old Luv but I didn't go for a three year jolly up and used my degree in my work as opposed to maybe 55% who use it to get an extra star at Maccy Dees.

Defo in his 70's! He has revealed too much about the early TV **** he was fond of as a 21 year old.

I still have a problem with the whole current setup. Too many people at so called ‘Unis’ that need to take their socks off to count past ten. All so the Gvt doesn’t have to add them to the unemployment figures. And when a lot of them leave they end up stacking shelves at Tesco.

In the days I went, they paid you to go. If you didn’t have the qualifications and you couldn’t pass an entrance exam, you didn’t go.

I went to uni in 92-95 just as they were ending the maintence grants and brining in student loans. My parents aren’t wealthy and there’s no way they could have afforded to pay for me to go.

I feel sorry for the kids these days who go to uni and come out with a ****ing £60k debt. How the **** are you supposed get on in life with that millstone around your neck ?

See my post on the last page the terms of the loan are cracking (well suitable if not good), try and get the same from your bank and they'll laugh you out the door.

So in your mind how many kids actually use their degree in a related business/job?

And that's down to the individual and the system but if you have something about you then yes go to Uni get and education and then a career that pays well. It's down to the individual to make it work fro them, if you don't you just have yourself to blame.

That's down to the individual to make use of what they do and seek the right opportunity in the right place.

They may not use their actual degree which warps the figures but they do use the education they have received and move on to a decent job. What's the alternative? Leave school and get a job? Apprentiships are great but there's not enough to go round so go get an education, the system may be ****e but from the inside for the student it's great.

Watch with mother was broadcast until the early 70's at least. If you're watching that you are in your 50's. Aah Mary, Mungo and Midge. Those were the days.

It’s more the system, mate. There are many who wouldn’t and shouldn’t have been allowed near a university years ago.

I remember when they first abolished the old apprenticeships - crazy decision. Kids who weren’t academically minded could learn on the job, with one day a week at college. After 5 yrs ( plus getting covered in a barrel of ****e) you were a fully qualified and well trained Sparks, plumber, carpenter, etc.

Oh I agree that the loan terms are better than anything the bank would lend. My point is that the cost of education is exorbitant.

I don’t know how kids are expected to buy a house and raise a family when they have £60k worth of debt around their necks before they’ve even had their first proper job.
