Bell is at least in his early 70's and states he remembers affectionately 'Watch with Mother' and the birth of BBC TV.

Really? I thought he was late 30s despite the fact that most of his posts are written in the style of a frustrated 12 year old.

Every **** goes to Uni nowadays. So long as you can write your own name in block capital letters without too many mistakes.

Yes indeed it was Tony Blair's after school club as it's affectionately known...It kept down the number of unemployed school leavers and the stupid bastards have to pay for it themselves. <laugh>

Really stupid to get a loan that you don't have to pay back until you're earning a good wage regardless of how long that takes, they may even write it off if you take too long. Pop in the bank and see if you can get one like that.

They charge interest if you don’t start paying back after a certain time, I believe. And at a rate of over 6%. Ok they write off whatever you haven’t paid after 30 yrs, but that can seem a lifetime away when you’re 21.

As this from the Guardian shows, it ain’t working too well..

Jake Butler, an expert at money advice website Save the Student, said: “I was expecting an increase to student loan interest this year, but this is worse than expected. It really demonstrates that the interest on loans under the new system is far too high and should be reassessed.”

However, the website pointed out that those who started university after September 2012 do not start repaying their loan until they are earning more than £21,000 a year, adding: “Unless you start off with a graduate salary of higher than £30,000, it’s unlikely you will pay off your full loan and interest before it’s wiped after 30 years anyway.”

Butler said that in reality, the interest rate increase was simply adding to the “massive amounts” of accumulated student loan debt “that the government will never see”.

It's a more of a problem for the govenment than students, my brother in law had his written off after making a few enquiries and then got a job that took him over so that he would have had to pay, my wife paid hers back but again she had a good job and it was easily affordable. Uni is still a good way of getting an education that gives you a route into a better pay bracket muppets like @Ginger Marks may mock and perhaps not going to Uni suited him but in general getting a good education is the sensible thing to do and mocking it as useless is plain stupid.
