Cambridge English Dictionary: what is overreach: to fail by trying to achieve, spend, or do more than you can manage.

I'd say that describes their situation perfectly. Trying to do too much too soon. The Chelsea's and utd's of this world can buy their way out of trouble and do it very quickly. Moshiri thought he could do the same but he's starting from a totally different base level.

Moshiri thought he could replace £50m Stones with £25m Keane, £75m Lukaku with free Rooney, and injured Coleman with free Martina

He's certainly not trying to buy his way out of trouble

So apart from the money, how do the players compare?

Keane is just as crap as Stones, Rooney is like playing with 10, Martina is like playing with 9
So, by selling [HASHTAG]#stonesisshit[/HASHTAG] and buying Keane they have made £25m and got the same player.
By selling Lukaku (who never scored a goal that gained a point) and getting Rooney on a free they have made £75m and improved the team by getting a player who`s goals have already gained them points.
Coleman has not been replaced, he is still there (though injured) so in fact they have added a back-up for free.

Pretty good business really.

No the got more of a player as they are fatter, double the body mass

It's pretty damned tough to fight the corner you are trying for.....all I need say is 15th and 2 points off relegation for that supposed 100mil

Lukaku -> Rooney means they've gone from someone who just bottles scoring chances to someone who gets involved with and ruins all their football
Stones -> Keane is a like for like earner for Moshiri who ignores the other CB is now a year crapper
Martina is worth less than nothing [HASHTAG]#falseeconomy[/HASHTAG]

Not really, they have changed 2 players and made £100m while gaining goals that count and losing nothing in defence (Astro will back me up on this, he has said it many times), they have also gained a free back-up defender.
With a good manager they will be fine.

I'd say throwing £7m at Koeman and - if it's to be believed - £23m at Simeone were attempts to buy his way out of trouble.

So a few days ago he says definitively that there's been no contact from Everton, and now a few days later he's claiming that the club have left him hanging to long, and so he's ruling himself out.

What a self promoting lying blimp that man is.
Thought you'd be pleased <laugh>

Apparently he wants the USA national team job, can't blame him really he'll love the size of the burgers over there and the obscene size of their food portions.

A job made in heaven for the fat fud.
It's amazing isn't it, totally brings the game into disrepute and still going - sitting back waiting for the next big pay day - without the slightest hint of any shame <laugh>

Everything in football is quickly forgotten ............... except that racist Suarez of course, never forget that :bandit:
