With Arsenal's season off to a stumbling start, the departures of Clichy and Fabregas and the possible sales of Nasri, it's clear that Wenger is trying to do some business and bring in some reinforcements, with only a short time to go before the transfer window slams shut.
Having already had a bid turned down for Phil Jagielka and been linked with a bid for Mikel Arteta, could Arsenal go a few steps further and solve most of their problems with a massive bid for a number of the apparently broke Merseyside club?
Leighton Baines would clearly be a big improvement on injury troubled Gibbs.
Tim Howard's experience would probably help out a nervous back line.
John Heitinga's versatility would be invaluable.
Marouane Fellaini's physicality, power and drive would add steel to a frail looking midfield.
My answer?
A controversial bid for all of those players, including season-long loans of Szczęsny, Traore and Lansbury to Everton, with Bendtner being used as part-exchange to try and keep the price down a little.
Everton are in desperate need of the money.
The board are sending out terrible signals and the team has had another poor start, albeit having only played one game.
Moyes looks increasingly impatient and must be getting very sick of having no money to spend.
I'll admit that Arsenal fans are hardly going to be in awe of any of those signings, but can you really see Wenger bringing in a massive name and risking the development of some of his beloved youngsters?
These players would give those inexperienced prospects some time, but wouldn't break the bank on wages and wouldn't be under as much pressure as any single big signing.
Not a lot of time to get it done and it's extremely unlikely that the club would make a move like this anyway, but I think that a lot of Arsenal's problems could be solved in one move.
There wouldn't be as much time need to adjust either, as these players already know each other's games.
I don't expect this article to be too popular, to be honest, but I just thought I'd throw it out there!
