Hopefully Nigella will be waiting on a table as one of the 'apologist legends' who will entertain paying diners with tales of how wonderful Charlton now is under Roland in the third division, and how they (the diners she is serving) are miserable ingrates she would not want o spend any time in a lifeboat with.

It is pot luck however which apologist legend you end up with. If you get Mundell, just wait until he reaches the end of his lengthy discourse and then (after your dining partner has nudged you awake again) say "Erm, what was that? Sorry, I wasn't really listening..."

Obviously the club is worth more in the Championship. Could this be a sticking point? Roland will argue that we are likely to get promoted this season, the reality is that as things stand we have a 25% chance of promotion.

Yes, I can't get past this point myself - Seems a strange time to be selling, because unlike previous owners, he's wealthy enough to wait for the Club's profile to rise, which you'd presume would get him a better price.

Apparently just the day-to-day running of the Club is costing RD roughly £1m per month.
By May or June next year he is going to be about £7m worse off than he is now, just by waiting.
If we do go up and RD can get another £15m selling the Club in the summer because it is in the Championship then fair enough.
If however he does not sell until Christmas 2018 or January 2019, all of his extra £15m will have been eaten away simply by running costs.

He might as well sell now and make a clean break - unless of course the losses we make are of use to his other business interests (some kind of tax thing).

The big mystery is Roland's motivation. What goes on in his head. What will persuade him to sell. Money? He doesn't need it Maybe he wants the CEO to be able to walk out with a respectable CV. Who knows.

This is why I don't put much importance with these figures that get bandied about, with supposed running costs. They tell us one thing, but only RD & his accountants really know where the money ends up.

Final paragraph has been my opinion for a long time.

i think the lookman money is paying for us to be running at the moment. we got, what, £11m for him? £1m a month means RD hasnt had to put anything in from his own pocket since and that anything we achieve, or unearth during the time till it runs out will be an added bonus.

I think the money will be gone come December so watch for January where he flogs everything not tied down, before selling the club to recoup most of his losses (even at £20m he's got half his bunce back). and if he cant get the price he wants, he'll repeat, using the money gained in January to run the club whilst looking at ways to asset strip us further.

it all seems pointless. fortunately, time is not on his side being 70 - being the only positive i can see right now. he will go at some point, it's just making it seem like his idea that's the challenge.

That will be the moment of truth. We're resigned to Konsa going, but Fosu is becoming quite saleable, as is Ricky Holmes. KR told us that Roland promised him a striker if we were in a promotion fight in January, and that will have to be paid for, even if it means getting, as would be likely, a loanee. Experience tells us that January is a month when our squad gets weakened.

All these pricks do is replace players, they do not strengthen squads.

The club are continuing to book meetings well in to November. It could be a matter of continuing as if nothing’s happening.

Or it could be nothing is happening. One qualm I had with the article is RD did his own due diligence when buying the club, and we are now being run by a lawyer. Why would they have gone external now?

Also, Kent Live reporting about Ben Amos’ permanent move. Nice to know you guys look in :)

takeover still on course but Rd has upped the price at the last moment. Source Journalist Paul Green.
