Just back from Portugal (hence typing and not at the game today), where I met matt derbyshire's agent. He told me they spoke to Saints and he fancied coming, but he made it sound like we didn't quite want him.

As I said, just for info.

I know his agent through a friend. He is an ex-pro, and I recognised him in departure lounge at airport. We got chatting about Saints and he told me they had talks with Southampton.

It is true; why on earth would i make something up about someone who is now elsewhere? I just thought Saints fans may want to know that we did have talks.

I'll ask about that. I didn't even though the guy I knew was his agent. i knew he was an agent, but disn't know what players.

I reckon it was when Big Sam was there and I don't think he is his type of player. I like him; good touch, good movement. I'm not disappointed he's not come, but wouldn't have complained if he had.

Yep pretty much exactly what I was about to say. Decent player, but we didn't miss a trick.
