Agree fran, the likes of saintsfc1 are merely poor wums. Whilst I'm sure many Pompey fans are delighted (might be too strong a word !) that your lot are doing well, we really AREN'T that interested <ok>

Been reading not606 for ages but never posted.

You all seem to want to know about the trouble at the game today and I witnessed it all from start to finish.

The Millwall fans knocked the metals barriers down and starting brawling, I saw punches thrown at old men and they even grabbed a man off his wheelchair and hit him too. Bottles were thrown as well hitting anyone that was unfortunate.

Millwall fans went through the tunnel first and as we passed through them they were throwing everything...bottles...coins...and stones which were luckily caught by the metal mesh. I saw 10 people or so pretty badly beat up, bruised and struggling to stand up.

I was there with my younger brother and it completely ruined my day.

I know that not all the Southampton fans acted in a saintly manner, but Millwall fans are just horrendous. I have no idea how they continue to get away with it, they do it every single week...home and away. These people need to be either banned from all stadiums or put in prison.

    DISGRACE

Maybe I'm being harsh on Cork, I thought he looked very tired today and couldn't keep up his battling efforts that he had in the first 3 games. Having said that, he did get a very good assist so I might raise his rating to 7.

Depends what you mean by being involved, if they had to defend themselves from the *****l herds you cannot really blame them if they dished something out. I noticed one numpty who climbed on the Burger bar trying to incite trouble, what is that all about?

There were no real stand our players for me, half the team looked jaded after 60 minutes. De Ridder looked good when he came on - Shame he had to hold the ball up instead of running at their left back!

How do people like this buy tickets from Millwall? Or are they banned and someone else buys them a ticket?

Think it was a hard game in hot conditions after two away matches. Let's not rush to judge..we got the points.

Adkins got it absolutely right with the subs, and for a while novel use the diamond formation 1 9 1! Seaborne must have a hard head, he got elbowed three times and got up and played on each time, the second one warranted a red rather than a yellow but we know we don't do well against 10. Also fair play to Richardson for not making a meal of that awful challenge in the 2nd half.

Well i obviously mean saints fans that went looking for trouble, let's not kid ourselves and say it was just millwall fans,if people were defending themselves fair play but i'm sure there are saints fans that like to rough it up a bit sometimes too, although i have to say i think the millwall lot were the main instigators.

Agree the players look jaded, a tough week of Championship football and warm conditions today....the good news was that Millwall also looked equally jaded and the game kind of petered out towards the end, with Millwall offering nothing more than trying to get on the end of a Henderson knock down.

As previously mentioned felt sorry for Fox & De Ridder, who couldn't show much attacking prowess as the support was just not there.

Guly was my man of the match, not just because of the goal, his all round performance included chasing back, creating space, and chances, the best was when in the second half a long clearance had Davis sprinting from the box and several players chasing back but Guly appeared from nowhere to make a crucial clearance, trouble was Moaning Myrtle on Solent credited Richardson who was nowhere in sight!

Delighted to hold on today but we made hard work of it at times. The frist 30 minutes was good but we need to learn to not over play it at times. We should've got more shots away when playing it around the edge of the box, just played a pass too many sometimes.

No midweek game will do the team good and get them sorted for next Saturday.

    Another win :D

Goes to show how different peoples perceptions of the game can be...

Davis - 7, Great command of his area with some challenging balls in, a bit dodgy early on with coming off of his line to claim balls... but solid.
Richardson - 5, Our worst player today, I'd been impressed with him up until now but he'll want to forget today... Got rinsed by Buoazza in the first half everytime... PLayed better in the second half but didn't really offer much and needlessly gave the ball away with a few hoofs.
Fonte - 8, As always very assured.
Seaborne - 8, Had a very good game, best I've seen from him in a while, great in the air and looked assured on the ball.
Harding - 7, Can't say I saw much of him, but I guess that speaks for itself, didn't get beaten once as far as I remember.
Guly - 8, Man of the match, great finish for the goal, athletic and confident performance, great hold up play and link up play... obviously he had a few moments of needless tricks and sloppy passing, but what more can we expect?!
Hammond - 6, He played ok, but obviously there was a reason he was subbed off at half time...
Cork - 8, Second only to Guly, great performance, needed the extra midfield support from Schneiderlin in the second half, great passing (the assist to Guly's goal and a few other passes... One to Connolly a particular highlight) composed on the ball and was involved in all of our best moves.
Lallana - 6, good dribbling but off the pace of the game
Lambert 7, Won every header today, good movement, just lacked some pace when it was required but I can't hold that against him as it's not his game... Nothing out of the ordinary from him but had a good game.
Connolly - 6, Played ok, but Lallana wasn't on form so I think this affected Connolly's game too, and struggled against the physical opposition.

Schneiderlin - 7, Good game from him, did exactly what was required and dictated the tempo, added more composure to the midfield to allow for the excellent keep ball at the end of the second half.
Fox - 6, Quiet, you could tell he was more of a left back but did enough... and helped sure up the midfield.
De Ridder - 7, Magic when he came on, made all of the right decisions with the ball at his feet and was a pleasure to watch, worked hard especially when Lambert and Guly were tiring.

Credit to Millwall, they had a game plan, stuck to it and it worked very well. They overran us in midfield, closed us down quickly and won most 50/50s. We struggled to get into our normal passing game as a result and as everyone has said looked jaded as the game went on. However despite all this we battled through and have won another 3 points, best win of the season for me in the way that we wouldnt give up our lead.
My MOTM was probably Cork for his energy (despite looking cream crackered) and pass to Guly for his goal. Guly took his goal well but drifted inside too much leaving Richardson exposed on the wing. Delighted with the win and now the players can enjoy a well deserved day off!

Lallana was bullied out of the game today with the Millwall's right winger over lapping and covering the right-back when he needed it. Cork had a good game and that pass to Guly for his goal was top quality. Richardson was really good today and looked quite solid and sharp with his reactions to balls over the top (There was alot). Hammond tired too easy today I think, and was sitting back while Cork was doing the chasing. I think we missed Connolly's movement when he went off, because every time we got the ball there was knowone to hold to ball up the top and that resulted in us giving the ball away to easily.

Davis was class today and made sure we got the points, aswell as the Richardson clearance off the line.
