Must admit Stan I wouldn't want to go through this type of storm too often. It's still nasty outdoors, winds of 80 - 90 km/h but subsiding, plenty of branches coming off trees and everyone's being told to stay indoors until tomorrow when the clean up operation will get into full swing.
Hats off to these brave folk in the RNLI........
Three men have been rescued from a yacht which issued a mayday off Rosslare in Co Wexford.
The crew had been trying to get to safety since the early hours and had attempted to gain entry to a few harbours but were constantly pushed back by winds and tides.
Rosslare Harbour lifeboat, under the command of Coxswain Eamon O'Rourke launched with six volunteer crew and made the journey out to help the three men.
Conditions were extremely challenging with force nine winds with a six metre sea swell. The lifeboat had to be carefully manoureved alongside the yacht by Coxswain O'Rourke to establish a tow.
The lifeboat crew made slow progress in the heavy weather but brought all three men safely ashore after 2pm at Rosslare Harbour.

I'd guess that's what alot of people are thinking......this has been flagged for the last 5 days so you do wonder what the hell they were doing in a yacht leaving it so late to get to safety......

I'm glad you're all good guys - having see n my first hurricane over here (although we got rain but very little wind in Houston), they're scary enough in a country that's used to dealing with them.

I don't know whether you've seen the BBC series on lifeboats but the Irish have pulled off some incredible rescues. God Bless all those who put their lives at risk to save others (even the eejits)
I was due to go to the Emerald Isle for a couple of fishing comps but circumstances took me home to France and we are due a bit of wet tomorrow ... first real rain since May
