Perhaps I need to learn too, but I'm sure there will be an opportunity for you to trot it out, sometime this season.
Just as long as we both remember that this is a different Saints club than the one that we have supported all our lives. That is one thing I have definitely taken on board, so far. Although I wasn't able to keep in touch with the radio for much of the match, I could see from the online stats, and the radio I did hear that this match was won much more from resilience and grinding out the result. And that is the difference between a winning team and one that flatters to deceive.
Just got home from the match and Millwall made it very hard for us by stifling our midfield. We did well to grind out a result, but you have to give Millwall some credit. We won't see many tougher games this season. Saints just couldn't get there free flowing game going today. Still 3 more points.
That's what it felt like, a bit. It's amazing what you can glean from stats and the radio.
I remember a few years ago when I was very regular in attending matches, but I didn't go one week, and commented on a Saints performance. My mate turned to me and said, how do you know..? You didn't go. Other friends quickly stepped in and commented that my absent appraisal was actually more accurate than his, and he'd been there. But as mentioned before, he'd spent most of the time drinking his beer, eating his pie, having a p!ss, and spending much of the match in the concourse. He'd also turned up late and gone early.
Mind you, I'm not going to be predicting a result again in a hurry. 4-1 Saints, I said for today. Phew..!
Any update on the trouble after the game outside the Northam? Saw some bloke throwing punches at a couple of lads. Also a woman getting hit on the head by a drinks bottle!?
Simple people, brought up on TV & Films, who think injuries get wiped away the moment they turn their backs for home.
Bunch of idiots squaring up (idiots from both sides this is), then the Millwall fans started charging at the police, bunch of morons, everyone involved.
Back from the game, fairly decent although have played better - we would have come unstuck against a better team IMO
Davis - 7, Solid in goal, was in good command of his area and made some good saves
Richardson - 7, looked solid again down the right
Fonte - 6, not his usual self I didn't think
Seaborne - 6, some good tackles but distribution still very poor
Harding - 6, started well but faded out towards the end
Guly - 6, a moment of brilliance in a game of frustration
Hammond - 6, didn't look like his recent form
Cork - 6, lost out a bit in the midfield battle
Lallana - 6, not his usual sparkling self today
Lambert 6, worked hard, dodgy free-kicks but did okay
Connolly - 6, again worked hard but not enough final piece
Schneiderlin - 6, few good passes but a mixed bag really
Fox - 5, didnt have much to do but didnt impress with what he did
De Ridder - N/A, didnt have time to judge him

mainly millwall, bunch of pathetic lowlife scum. throwing bottles (one of which hit a young child) makes them proper hardmen.
and also thanks for the 2 quid, that was thrown towards us saints fans outside, i got a double cheeseburger with it.
Richardson looked solid? He got absolutely skinned by Bouazza on a number of occassions and looked our most suspect defender! Can't agree with that at all.
The police didn't help by escorting the morons through the tunnel on their way to the station. The Millwall fans (the moronic ones anyway) got priority through the tunnel and used it to throw coins and take a few swings at people.
Really poorly policed IMO. I don't understand why some teams get held back or stopped from accessing that bridge yet Millwall got right of way!
To be fair Richardson made a very good clearance off the line in what was a crazt goalmouth scramble. Think they looked better than us and deserved a point but im not going to complain! You could tell the lads were quite tired but held on well.
I heard that the millwall fans barricaded some saints fans on the bridge and were chucking things at them,including kids crying there eyes out,if this is true then all the ****ing numpties that are responsible should never be allowed to football again,disgrace! also just after we scored the millwall fans tried to get at the saints fans in the northam end,absolutely pathetic,you millwall fans just can't help yaself can ya? this is not directed at the normal fans but just the bleeding idiots.Also i don't know how true it is but it has been reported that someone has been stabbed.
Gully was by far the man of the match and not just for his goal
De Ridder took a small while to get into the game but then did a good job of holding the ball along the wing, what game were you watching ..........did you go to the game today?

Davis was awesome today - had a top, top game. Didn't make a single error and kept us in it at times. Corky was Man Of The Match again for me today though, couldn't fault him all afternoon and was the driving force for us in the middle of the park.
Everyone looked a bit fatigued... Especially in the second half, but that's understandable. It's a very tough league with some very tough teams within it, we've just got promoted and the boys have worked their socks off none stop for 4 games (5 if you include Torquay) yet still found it within themselves to battle on through and grind out the three points today, which I thought took some real balls. Overall, not the best performance but a great show of character, determination and also commitment. Let the lads recuperate now before we tear apart The Foxies next weekend
