DD, I agree with much of what you have been saying about supporting your own nation's team, I must, however, state quite clearly that for some time now, Joe Hart has been at best 4th choice behind Butland, Forster and Heaton, and is now in danger of slipping to 5th behind Pickford!
He was at fault for goals scored by Scotland and Iceland and does not fill his defenders with confidence. McGovern was a more reliable keeper than Hart in the Euros, and, just like Hart, he cannot get first team football at his parent club. It's easy to keep a clean sheet when the opponents offer very little threat!
He let in 3 goals in 9 games 2 of which came against Scotland resulting in 7 clean sheets. Yep liability right there.
Holland may miss out, France need two wins to Qualify and Portugal facing play off spot . 3 sides that may not go to the World Cup .
How awful! That would devalue the thing so much. I mean, whoever'd watch if it was just squitty no-hoper little sides like Faroe Islands, Gibraltar, England...
The point being sides that have won World cups and recently Euro 2016 are struggling to qualify for the World cup, Holland are making hard work of brushing Belarus aside right now. Tomorrow's England game is now meaningless so they should play an 11 of U21 players . 1-0 Holland
Norwich city Moderator Identifies as European first British second English reluctantly third Wow you learn something new everyday.
Hart is crap, his best days are clearly behind him. Yes he got clean sheets but against poor opposition offering very little threat. I cannot imagine you are being serious here DD? You and GS must be the only two people in the world who think he should be England's number one. I would imagine Hart is not being dropped, Butland is just being given experience in a dead rubber. I will always support England, consider myself English first, British a very close second and European a distant 3rd. it is a small part of who I am, I'm probably more proudly Norfolk than any nationalistic identity. It doesn't mean a lot though. Every nationality has good people and arseholes. I like good people where ever they're from, unfortunately I have also encountered arseholes from all over too, arseholishness knows no nationality! England's football at the moment is barely watchable dirge, but ironically you could be right DD. Portugal bored their way to the Euros, ditto the Greeks, maybe we could too?...........Nah! not while we pick our 4th/5th choice keeper and offer so little going forward. If you are as crap as we are going forward, you need to be better at set pieces or have a match winning individual..........nope neither of those either! Dire boring failure in the group stages awaits, I sincerely hope I'm wrong but a very badly managed team gets no where. Bah!
Sorry but what is the point in that observation? I'm fairly sure it's not a prerequisite for the job, if that's how he feels more power to him. I don't feel the same but it's his prerogative and in no way conflicts to effective moderating. DD on the wind up again? Bah!
Posters born in England that have never supported England and consider themselves European first and begrudgingly English third ? To find that surprising must be a wind up ? In places like Bradford Luton and probably London now where many people Identify with religious beliefs over the country of birth ,I could understand that our culture tradition and heritage mean nothing but for someone from Cromer born in England that seems depressing.
Wow, what a read this has been. 'Begrudgingly English' - what does that even mean. I'm begrudgingly from Morse Road. Norwich. (I jest, it has no bearing on how I view the world)
It's reluctantly English not begrudgingly English I misquoted and edited but not before Melchett quoted the post not that it makes any more sense. Cromer of course is free to Identify as anything he wishes in this country and I will defend his right to express himself as a European the same as I would pretend a tranny is a lady if it made her/him feel happy .
