With your philosophical heads on does anyone else ever wonder why we invest so much of our thoughts, time and emotions into what comes down to a contest to see who can make a ball go over a line between two posts the most times.

All digs at me are also welcome of course - that's what I'm here for.

Because it's embedded into us from such a young age by those around us, fathers mothers grandparents etc.... It's just part of who we are imo, humans are attracted to contests, battles, to see who's best and are for the most part as a species highly competitive. Football ticks alot if those boxes and also brings out most the emotions humans enjoy....love,anger,joy,disapointment, highs,lows
 
Because it's the last place a bloke can shout that someone is a **** and give it a bit of argy bargy without some triggered gender fluid bird or fannyish bloke trying to emasculate them to 'behave'.

Still think teams should donate half their TV money to a charity or cause in the UK next year. Education would be a good place to start...

It used to consume me, football. Club and international football.

And now. The best bit of an international game is a pitch intruder.

Which is good. Someone full of beer and ( as Ive said before ) slipping and sliding around in trainers on a greasy surface with no grip, cavorting down the pitch, followed by skinny gimps in day glo vests. There are not many better sights.

Certainly beats the over pampered narcissist, millionaire 'main attraction' lovely boys on the pitch. Dull, dull, dull.

And all this in a week when we lost a PROPER footballer, that tonight would have shone like a beacon amongst the dross on show.

Ironic that 'Sir Les' was a 'semi - pro' whereas this lot tonight are 'full time pro's' . Suggests Sir Les and his ilk were half as good, more to the point they were probably twice as good.

Proper football died years ago. This current incarnation is a pale imitation of that.

Hard to disagree with that. Have to say Deano scoring at Wembley, then an immediate fast forward to the final whistle and me starting to cry, ranks as my personal nirvana, but for pure football and what it can do for all fans the Watford Leicester passage of play takes some beating.

Every time I see this, I start screaming that it's offside. I'm relieved they got the line "And Marx is claiming it's offside" in, as ignoring the offside would have ruined it for me.
