Why would he stay at the club when they told him they wanted the money? I would hate to be in his position, on one hand its Newcastle and the team i love and would want to play at my whole career but on the other, they have said they dont want me. This is of course, if the texts are true.

    Sunderland fan in peace.

The whole money side of the game has endded its conection with the average fan. Both Bent and Carroll move to so called bigger clubs and take a £50K a week pay rise. Lets remember £20K a week is more tham £1Million a year!

How many fans earn less in a year than they were both on before they moved away. The vast marojority. All this talk about a footballers career being short might have applied in the days of Frank Clark or even or super Mac when they might have earn about 4 times the average wage, in those days you could not blame a player for looking to the money. Today however it should be easy to be loyal after all if you can earn £3 Million a year at a club you say you love for 8 years that still £24 Million. If you can not live well on that for the rest of your life there is some thing wrong!

There are times when I thing players and clubs dont deserve the support they get from working class fans and this is true of both clubs up here we both have a right to never believe a word any over paid badge kissing player ever says.

I wish you well and hope that you are allowed to spend the money on the team in the summer, because it can only be good to see both clubs at the top of the league.

Fair point Agent Bruce! But obviously the point I was making is that Carroll clearly has clearly had specific, genuine disputes that he may want to get away from, as opposed to just general charva activities...

Everyone's acting like he'd have been so offended if Ashley told him to catch a ride down to Liverpool. Let's be real, everyone and their uncle has expected Ashley to want to cash in, if the pie-man did call him into the office and tell him that, it'd have come as no surprise, so I don't see why he'd get hurt by it and want to ditch the coaches, teammates, and fans who all clearly want him to stay.

So with that in mind, whether or not he was told by the board they want him to leave, he didn't need to give in, players of the club undermine Ashley all the time in the media - if he declines, he becomes an even bigger legend than he was already going to become. This is Carroll's fault, period.

We will probably never know the truth. In the end it's down to who and what you choose to believe. Personally I believe Carroll was forced out. Yes, he could have said 'no', but he must surely have known the club could make life seriously unpleasant for him.

Just look at the people we have in charge and don't underestimate their cynicism and greed. Llambias is a casino owner, and probably just a couple of steps up from a gangster. I wouldn't have put it past him to send some of the 'boys' around to Carroll's place to torch his car or break his fingers if he refused to go. The same for Fat Boy. He didn't get to where he is today by being nice to people.

As long as those two scumbags are still here, we will be on tenterhooks waiting for the next bombshell.

If you take Pardew's statement at face value then Carroll was pushed, he requested a meeting asked to renegociate his contract and when this was refused sat down with his agent and drafted a transfer request, the club took the stance that as the contract had been signed in October it was far too soon to be renegociating and this would have an impact on other players.

Depends how you look at it Blacker-Than_Knight, he was trying to get the club to break the pay structure for him to stay and did it late in the day knowing we would struggle to get a replacement.

So more he was holding the club to ransome!!!

As they say No Player is bigger than the club, he obviously wanted to stay but also got greedy

I don't buy the Carroll was pushed argument at all. Why would he sign a transfer request just because the club said they wanted him to go? If he felt he had no option but to go he could have signed for Liverpool, then told the press truthfully that he was pushed and Ashley would now rightfully be getting the blame. But submitting the transfer request shows that he wanted out and it is more creditable to believe that that came before the club's decision to sell and not the other way around.

As for the tweets to his mate a talksport that just sounds like a lame attempt to save some face when he realised how much flak he was going to take from his home town supporters.

I strongly believe Carroll is the villain here and not Ashley (and that is really difficult to say because Ashley ranks really low in my estimation!)

Yep, I was just thinking that both sides pushed but when it comes down to it he moved for money and quite rightly the club didn't break the pay structure, how many millions do you need to be happy, I am sure that had Carroll stayed he would have earned sufficient to offset his current pay level especially as he looks to be the future long term England Number 9, his agent obviously looked at the immediate gain and the amount that he would earn from Carrolls move.
