Yeah, Everton will be fine; probably not challenging the top four, but they've had a miserably difficult starting slate to contend with. I'd imagine most teams beginning the year with those five fixtures would be sitting in the relegation zone, ourselves included. For the sake of comparison, our five opponents have taken 20 points in their 20 matches against teams other than us, and 5 in 5 against us; Everton's five have taken 39 points in 20, and 10 in 5 against them. Both of us have effectively played at par thus far.
Easy to rib Ron now, but we needed him when he came in. Claude, Maurice, they would not have done as well with that situation. Saying that, fun watching him flounder now he's at Everton.
The first season was good until we went a bit experimental, mainly thanks to Mane. Year two, the whole top six had a year off, so we looked better than we really were. Anyway, Everton fans should aim their anger/worry higher up. Everyone in the world knew their signings were too slow and overpriced.
Koeman had some gravitas that we needed when Pochettino bolted. I felt safe when they showed the video of him walking round Staplewood. We had some of our best results during his tenure...and a dry spell. Was desperate for him to stay when we went into the Europa group stage...we will never know whether we'd have done better than under Puel....I suspect we would. Cannot wish him well after he left us unexpectedly...so a good weekend all round.
Well, you know me, I tend to hold a grudge, but I'll not pretend his time here didn't help us cement our stay in the top ten. He was what we needed, and we were what he needed, but he forgot that quicker than us though......the tosser
I know highlights can be deceiving, but having watched MOTD2, had Rooney's finishing been better, Everton may have been able to have got something from the game.
What you are saying is correct and the figures are an interesting read. But I don't think "will be fine" is what they were aiming for at the start of the season
Yeah, finishing in the EL places comfortably removed from the top four would be a disappointment for them. However, most downgraded their chances when they failed to get a ready-made Lukaku replacement, and given how young their team is (except for the places where it's very, very old) another season at 6th or 7th wouldn't be disastrous by any stretch.
I just think it's funny, I had a lot of Twitter arguments with Everton fans who thought they were the second coming of Jesus when they signed Koeman. So it's lovely watching them struggle, even though they will turn it around. Just hope we can find goals and stay above them...
I said it during the summer that I wasn't too worried about what Everton were doing because their signings are very similar to Koemans first season with us (not counting Sig though as I think he is a fantastic signing). Now I do expect Everton to turn it around, they have had a killer start to the season regarding fixtures. But if you think about it, some of their signings have been similar but at today's vastly inflated prices. Klaasen and Tadic - both ripped up the Dutch league, somewhat stifled here on most days. Pickford and Forster - Pickford has age on his side but I'd say they are similar quality. Keane and Alderweireld - Think we know who's better. Sandro and Long - both very pacy but I think Sandro is meant to be a better finisher, has he scored yet? (Genuine question). I'd say Rooney and Pelle but they don't really have much similar about their game. Ok so it's a only a few signings that are similar but you get my point, I always thought their signings we more consolidating 7th really. Now watch them absolutely destroy it for the rest of the season and get champions league.....
Koeman took us to 6th in the league. Our highest position in the Premier League and we should always remember that. He is also a lying, cheating, fat, Dutch bastard and we should never forget that. #notbitter
OMG the world has gone mad. Now, I can be a little sensitive over matters sometimes, but this: https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/...ed-to-ban-racist-romelu-lukaku-song-7xwkths0t For those without a Times subscription, basically Kick It Out are complaining about a Lukaku song that involves the size of his manhood - apparently it is racial stereotyping. Manchester United urged to ban racist Romelu Lukaku song "Manchester United have been asked to stop their supporters singing a song about Romelu Lukaku’s manhood. Football’s anti-discrimination campaign group claims that the chant is offensive, discriminatory and reinforces racist stereotypes. Footage has emerged of United fans singing the song about Lukaku, who signed from Everton in a £90 million deal in July, during the club’s 3-0 win at home to Basle in the Champions League last week. It is understood that United fans repeated the chant on Sunday at Old Trafford when their team beat Everton 4-0 in the Premier League. The song, to the tune of the Stone Roses’ Made of Stone, makes reference to the size of the striker’s penis. Kick It Out said that the song should be banned because it reinforced the stereotype that black men are better endowed than others. “Kick It Out is aware of footage of alleged racist chanting by supporters of Manchester United that emerged on Wednesday evening [September 13],” a spokesman for the group said. “The lyrics used in the chant are offensive and discriminatory. Racist stereotypes are never acceptable in football or wider society, irrespective of any intention to show support for a player. “We have contacted Manchester United regarding the issue and will be working closely with them and the FA to ensure that it is addressed swiftly. If we receive any reports relating to the discriminatory chant, those will be passed on to the governing body and the perpetrators can expect to face punishment.” It is understood that United will now liaise with Kick It Out on the matter and seek specialist advice from other industry bodies to determine whether the chant is regarded as racist under the letter of the law. A United spokesman said that the club had a “zero- tolerance” attitude towards racism. The debate about the chant was brought into the public domain by Scott Patterson, an Old Trafford season ticket-holder who writes a popular blog called The Republik of Mancunia. Patterson said that he regarded the song as “drivel that belongs in the 1980s”. “Here we have a hugely talented striker, currently the top scorer in the league, yet he’s reduced to us celebrating the supposed size of his dick,” he said. “It’s a cheap and insulting stereotype that has no place in this day and age.” Patterson added: “I was embarrassed to hear that song and I want us to be better than this.” Greater Manchester police had not responded to a request for a comment yesterday evening."
Was just coming to post about that no7, utter joke and where does it end? I don't remember a fuss being made about Park Ji Sung eating dogs in his own country... Which is worse to me. Frankly, anyone insulted by United fans singing 'hes got a 24 inch penis' probably shouldn't go to football. Or watch it on TV. Or use the Internet. Or leave the house.
I'm almost certain he doesn't, they're all probably having a great laugh in training at how pathetic it is Who would actually complain about this? Oh thats right someone connected to the Republik of Mancunia who previously sold t shirts with 3 stars on and the phrase 'without killing anyone'
