To be fair, he's just quoting The Sun, who are a ****ty rag but they are not GM's words.

Do you think Alderwiereld would stay though if a big £60m offer came in, with City probably offering him the best part of £200k per week ? Kompany is a long term replacement that City need to make and if they've identified him as a target then his head may have already been turned.

I imagine he will also take into account the requirement to play with some combination of Otamendi, Mangala and Stones instead of Vertonghen, Dier and Sanchez. I doubt he'll look as good in the City defence.

Possibly, although I doubt that would have a huge bearing on his thinking. It certainly didn't influence Walker. The problem for other clubs with City sniffing around their players is that City can tip the balance in their favour with massive cash incentives, for both the player and the selling club.

Obviously all players are aware of the 'information' spread about by the media, and know what is speculative, what is true, what is ridiculous and what is simply malicious. Alderweirald may well be wanting more money and his agent will be looking for his cut but he is under contract to Spurs (and Levy) until 2020. Spurs will let him go when the time is right for Spurs and at a price that is right for Spurs. We have after all sold Walker and bought an almost exact replica for half the price. When/if Levy sells THFC he will want it to have a successful team in the new stadium to maximise the price,so I don't think that this team will be broken up, only improved. However the blatant tapping up that City, Liverpool, United and Chelsea do has to be stopped for the good of the English game. Now that the Los Ladrones and Barca are being outmuscled perhaps UEFA and FIFA will start to do something.

I agree that the tapping up needs to stop. It's so much easier to do these days with virtually every player having a social media account. Gone are the days where a secret meeting in a cafe would take place, these days it can be done with a twitter message or the such. As for Levy wanting to keep his team together, that's all very well in an ideal world, but Spurs face the same pressures as other clubs of their stature, where their good players are going to be courted by bigger clubs who can offer them better chances of silverware and hugely inflated wages. Coupled with having to balance the books to finance your new stadium, and the demands for bigger wages, I think you'll have a struggle on your hands to keep hold of your best players over the next 2-3 seasons personally.

What you fail to understand here is nowadays a contract isn't worth the paper it's written on. If a player decides to down tools it leaves the club with a problem. There's no way Levy will pay the going rate that a big club would, would you be happy having a player who wants out souring the dressing room?

The key to making it easier to keep the players is to win a trophy. Doing so this year, whatever the trophy would be more than welcome

It is not that Levy won't pay. It is that Spurs do not have a bottomless pit of money that some other clubs have. Pay up and do a Leeds or be sensible and stay solvent. I know what I and many other longtime fans would rather do.

I think it's crucial that this group of Spurs players win something this season, otherwise I can see the better players being snapped up by the mega rich clubs.

A very idealistic view and possibly the view of a spurs director. Very few players care about the clubs finances and want the going rate for their work if a club can't pay players will look to those who can.

It says much for Pochettino' managerial ability that he can turn this Spurs bunch of paupers into one of the best sides in the Premier League. He is the one that needs a huge release clause in his contract

  19. There was a former super-agent on TalkSport, yesterday, and he reckons it's just as likely that the new agent will look to work with Levy in keeping Alli at the club, as well as doing fresh business with Levy.

The guest (who wasn't a Spurs fan), made the following observations:-

    • Spurs are shortly to move into a state-of-the-art stadium, which will be the best in the World;
    • We have one of the best young squads in World football that, if it stays together, could go on to do something remarkable
    • Alli is still young, and there is no real case that can be made by any agent to encourage him to move away from Spurs
    • Levy is an interesting character, with whom any agent would love to do business in the coming years

He concluded by saying that Spurs fans need not necessarily be worried that Alli is looking to change his agent.

We're talking Mendes mate. He doesn't give a **** about anyone but himself.

He typically ships his players to money teams, like Man Utd.
