Marco Asensio will miss Real Madrid's Champions League opener at home to APOEL Nicosia on Wednesday night after bizarrely picking up an infection after shaving his legs.

The young Spaniard, who has been in superb form at the start of this season, missed training this week which led to boss Zinedine Zidane telling a news conference that he had a 'pimple which stopped him pulling up his socks.'

An ABC Espana report later revealed the infection had been suffered after the youngster had shaved his legs, with Real Madrid later confirming Asensio will not be involved when they released their squad list.
