Never drink through the week when I know I'll be driving. Not worth it at all.

I knew someone who worked for an alcoholic drinks company - had a skinful at a team meeting up early and drove the next day. He was stopped by the police, breathalysed the following day - over the limit. Lost his licence and his job.

Silly bugger...Difference is the likes of WR will hire a smart arse barrister and get off on a technicality.

Just seen Kirsty Gallacher was breathalysed the morning after a night drinking and she was STILL 3 times over the legal limit!!!

Did I say he was my hero?

Many sportsmen are heros for their sporting exploits not off field activities.
According to you you have never had a sporting hero. I don't believe it personally.

I greatly admired:
Sir Bobby Charlton
Alan Ball (i got a pair of his white boots)

I wouldn't put them in the hero bracket though.

I would put our servicemen/women in the hero bracket though. I suppose some of them will play sports.

Anyway, I don't want this thread (like all the others) get derailed over you and me and heroes.
Let's just beg to differ. Have a <cheers>

Exactly. My mate who's a copper said 'Have none for the road'. I'm not sure Colleen will be so forgiving!
I don't read the Scum and the other gutter press, but I get the impression they think Wayne and Colleen are about to Do One..
Be a great shame if they part, but I guess fame and fortune are difficult to manage when its all downhill from here on in.

What you were ten years old and you used to say I greatLy admire bobby Charlton!!!!
Give over we all had heroes as kids.
Boycott or Len Hutton Daley Thompson seb Coe. Roger bannister whoever we all had one or a few.

You're making stuff up now. Nobody has downplayed it, it's ****ing stupid. It's also certain that many people drive under the influence not knowing, or believing, that they are.

The comparison to Gallagher was to highlight Sky's reporting hypocrisy. To be fair they didn't report on Jim White's ban either or him being stopped from getting on a plane because he was over pissed.

Gallagher was stopped at half 11 in the morning. That highlights how difficult it is to judge. I'd guess that most on here have been on serious sessions, some lasting all day, & then driven the next day. Chances are they were over the limit.

How many have woke up with a twat of a hangover but still driven to work or the shops or somewhere else? Chances are they were over the limit. Again I'd guess most.

The only difference between Rooney & many many others, including me, is that he has been caught.

It's all wrong but a tad over from the night before is difficult to judge, whereas 3 x over the limit in the early hours is social madness - Rooney; 3 x over late morning, going to pick up your kids - Gallagher, is simply scary and a real cause for concern.

It's a small point, but she wasn't actually picking up her kids, she wasn't driving beyond getting to where they were.

This^
I've always thought if I suddenly had ridiculous amounts of money the first person I'd hire would be a chauffeur
Mind you driving bores me anyway, but why would you drive yourself around and have to stay sober when you could have the flexibility to have a drink wherever and whenever and your driver would take you home?

I'd also hire someone to open my mail for me...I can't be arsed with that either (if times get hard I suppose my chauffeur could bring it with him / her and sort it while waiting outside the pub for me)

...in fact if I was loaded I'd hire someone right now to go to the fridge for me. Sadly I'm not so I'm going to have to go for a beer myself...I'm still grounded

I got married 43yrs ago, WTF would I hire anybody else for any of that ****e...
