As we exit the EU we need a PM who has consistently backed Brexit, someone who is also financially and fiscally literate. I did hope to move away from the Eton image for the Tory future but if he is clearly the best man for the job then his upbringing should not be a barrier. His success in business activities would certainly be advantageous in high office. In contrast you wouldn't trust Corbyn with a burger bar, especially if Diane Abbott was taking the money.....
I'm not a fan of Abbott but I'm more concerned about Rees Mogg's ability to empathise with the majority of the population. I don't think he's able to do this.
He obviously sounds very posh but I've been quite impressed with him on some social issues. I think he might surprise a few people, he certainly has the intelligence, ability in front of the cameras and is quick witted. Appealing to all sections would be his challenge.
I think he is a walking disaster for the country.. sorry to be wishy wash but the PM has to be a figurehead for the entire country not just Etonians... Mind you as a non-Tory if he gets in it might be good news for the next election

Being Etonians did Cameron, Osborne and Johnson no harm at all. I agree it would be good PR not have an Etonian if appearance is important but ability should be the most important ability. The public do not seem to have the hang ups on education that some on here do. The next PM is likely to be amongst the 2010 intake, Rees Mogg could be an excellent Chancellor if not PM, maybe Dominic Raab if RM is seen as too toxic.
Are you suggesting the fact that these three high profile politicians were blighted in any way by their schooling. ? One was PM, one was Chancellor and the third was a successful mayor of London and is now the Foreign Secretary. I am certainly not aware of any public disquiet against their schooling except maybe from the Momentum brigade and the Daily Worker.
I am not a member of Momentum, nor do I read the Daily Worker, but qualify as one of the public - I do find it disquieting that only one PM. in Britain's entire history went to a state school.
It doesn't seem to have fostered any understanding of ordinary people, their lives, expectations and hopes.

Millions of ordinary people voted in 2010, 2015 and 2017 to ensure they were governed by a Conservative government. The socialist party alternative in each election was clearly rejected as the best option. Something is wrong with your logic, the electorate generally have a different point of view. Perhaps they have chosen competence over party dogma.
Perhaps many of them vote in line with the misinformation fed to them by the 80% of media titles owned by tax-dodging, superrich non-doms? And the 'rejection' as you put it was obviously not 'clear' - hence the Tories' inability to gain more than hung parliaments.
