That's football - it's how it works. Like selling your players when necessary without having a hissy fit at the buying club's fans.
In the end you are right it is done. Plus I was proved completely right which of course is by far the most least important thing round here
You'd think lfc didnt get a decent playerwho loves lfc and turned down the champions to join us wouldnt uou? You'd really honestly think lfc agreed to pay van dijks wages not that Southampton got a small benefit out of a transfer they made when thry were in the lower leagues..... Klopp has a hard on for a player he will get them in... eventually
He's not said much since... imo we should all leave it cos I am fairly sure some deal has been struck with Barca for next year as all we heard was loud press not real Barca pressure since the deadline hilarity they set up. Imo itself sorted now
Every small step for one is a giant leap for someone else? Lfc have a good front line. We've a **** back line. Does klopp care? Seems not.
dunno. He likes lovren for some reason. he rates the guy. he likes workers If someone plays well against his teams he goes i will have him. commented on origi when he joined like this bought mane bought oxo. made damned sure matip was coming to lfc the first day he joined. commented on salah in the same manner. its quite a list of players he's had first hand look at and siad yeah i'll have that. so.. VVD.. klopp wants him. we all know it. I wonder where he saw keita
Maybe he saw Keita on YouTube. You think there's a secret arrangement for Coutinho next year. Do you think something similar has gone on with van Dijk? I'm surprised no-one else appeared to go for him.
That is true - we are on thin ice with FA because of that Stoke lad. Interestingly, I heard it was Tom Werner who leaked the VVD stuff at the beginning. Could he be the man that ****ed up the deal? ...
Whoa whoa whoa - I'm sure he likes Lovren, as a man and professional but I don't think he rates him. We wanted to spend a world record fee on a defender to replace him! Sakho was the starting LCB last season before he ****ed up and shifted Lovren out to the RCB and replaced him with Matip.
It's shame we didn't get Lemar and VVD as I feel they could have really transformed us. I do feel we have enough to navigate through the league and Europe this season. As we've seen, this is how important CL footy is for us. Whilst we didn't sign as many players as we hoped for, players WANT to join us now, which is a far cry from a few years ago. We have to maintain top 4 status as a minimum requirement. I just hope we secure more signings in January or get Keita-like deals and get them in next summer.
When it comes to Champion League no more London factor, before players want to play for London Club, not anymore if they are not in the champion league.
How would I rate this window? 5/10. We did sign some good players - Salah and Robertson are upgrades and can/have walked into the first team. Ox - he may not be a regular first choice but he's certainly capable of playing in the first XI and delivering in a number of positions. He's definitely an upgrade on our back up wingers like Woodburn and markovic, it also means we don't shift Firmino out wide, or have to use Lallana in a front 3. He's also adds more drive from the midfield instead of the workmanlike qualities from Can Gini and Hendo. And he's better than Milner. Solanke is a decent squad option but can't say that I'm expecting much from him. Keita is a massive signing and it's just a shame we won't get him until next year. I can't stress just how good a player he is and can be. We've got a real gem on our hands. So I give 5 out of 10 for the above. Lemar was a nice bonus but VVD was a huge signing which we needed. Not to bring in a CB is criminal and we've now lost Sakho - so we're even thinner. And it means we're stuck wth Lovren who WILL cost us points. Getting Lemar and VVD would have been 10/10. Getting Lemar only would have been 8/10. Getting VVD only 9/10.
Who knows? It's all a bit pathetic because everyone knows it goes on all the time, but anyway -it's over and done with. For now. Tbh, I'm glad we can just get on with the season now without all of that crap.
Am I the only one who didn't want Van Dijk anywhere near my club - attitude stinks. There must be better options out there. I hope to goodness we're not going back for him in January.
I've said all along that I wouldn't trust him not to pull the same trick on us next, if we had signed him and someone else came calling. It's symptomatic of the "player power" malaise running through football atm. Which gave rise to the bizarre phenomenon of Fergie expressing sympathy for us the other day.
I think our signings have kept us standing still. It will be touch and go with top 4, but with the added burdon or champions league football
