Calm down piskie. Just giving you the truth. Lol if i knew that "you can't handle the truth" i would have just agreed with you . You did need to spend the money but if you had done an everton you'd have been in a much better position
in all honesty, this window has been madness. So £92m for Lemar doesn't really surprise me, especially at this late stage. I think you're wobbling because every player seems to be snubbing Chelsea
BobbyD - fair points, and I could be wrong, but this is why Wenger gets the big bucks. I worry about Sanchez though, I'd rather have him than not, but if not, Lemar will be better than he will be in two or three years.
lol. I'm glad we're not spunking our money up on overated, overpriced bang average players. I've mentioned on the liverpool board but: Oxo 40m was a rip off. I could have stomached this as i think he's a better WB than moses but as a winger or CM no thanks but i think its too much money Drinkwater bang average and 40m is a joke especially as we got rid of matic for 40m Llorente i would have liked this one to go through as 15m is cheap for him. Back up striker Barkley 25m+ for an overrated english talent again (like wilshit ) and someone who cant play for the next few months, might as well just get him on a freebie. I know nothing about zappacosta but at least its 22m. If we are trying to pad our squad out with average players, might as well go for cheapish unknown/average players. I think we've stood still. Morata looks pretty good so far and bakayoko looked like an upgrade on matic (in this formation). Disappointed with our window as i'd expect us to either sign some big names or go with youth. Looks like we've not really signed any big names except replacements and we've decided to get rid of all our youth. Since romans withdrawn the magic money tree i'd rather we didn't spend millions and millions padding out the squad with average players.
It is bizarre that everyone is criticizing Wenger for leaving signing Lemar late, but no one is suggesting that Gardiola is an idiot for leaving the signing of Sanchez late. Everyone is on about Ox, Ozil and Sanchez's contracts expiring, but no one is talking about, Blind, Mata, Herrera and Shaw at United.
Is lemar one of those fake bid things that arsenal do every year when they know they can't sign the guy. I can't believe its only come out that he cant do anything as hes in the international squad (i take it back if he signs). Difference is, Guardiola has a strong team already and he will get slaughtered by the press if his team doesn't do anything this season (at the moment though they aren't in crisis). As for United, they have more money than anyone else and they can afford to waste money (also they are top of the league). I'm sure Jose will get this **** if they start falling off. The other thing is its not their star players. Not totally wengers fault, Sanchez and Ozil just dont want to sign new contracts beginning from the year before
Monaco willing to sell for that fantastic price but, perhaps unsurprisingly, the player has no desire to move to Arsenal.
I still wouldn't rule out a last minute transfer, out of the blue, like we saw with Ozil. But despite all the noise, it hasn't been a terrible window for us. I wouldn't say it was good, but holding onto Sanchez and Ozil, is a big positive. Once the window closes, and the players knuckle down to work, things will be better straight away. I would be surprised if the Lemar prefers Liverpool rumors are entirely true. No player or agent is going to express an opinion on that at this point, even if it were true to an extent. these guys are professionals. Oh I've been offered a million pound contract by Microsoft, but I'm an Apple fan so I'm going to turn it down...
Lacazette (with Lemar and the French national team) just tweeted - "Never give up, Great things take time."
City are currently favourites to win the title as it is. We just finished 5th and are on the verge of loosing our best player. BIG difference.
Hardly a Nobody - he just won the league with Monaco. Already a regular in the French team ahead of some absolute beasts. On top of that we didnt sell him - only to buy him back again for an astronomical fee.
So is there a difference in the funding available to both clubs. If City really wanted Sanchez, they could easily get him, just offer Arsenal 120M, and pay him 300K a year. You can't compare Arsenal's situation and record with City, United or Chelsea. You need to compare Arsenal to Athletico Madrid, Liverpool, Spurs and Everton. How did we do over the last 20 years compared to them? There is a reason we go through this every year, fans expect us to compete with the "Biggest teams", and we just aren't in that league. We sign players that are just off the top and when they succeed they want to cash in with one of those big money teams. There isn't a salary cap in football and teams can buy their league every year. City are favorites for a reason.
