Fair do's, here you go (and George, feel to put your 2 pennys in aswell) <ok> -

If someone doesn't agree with something like for instance the policy on immigration (just an example btw) then it's human nature to denigrate it and say 'what a load of rubbish', so why should religion be any different?

I think I answered that earlier. People are entitled to disagree with religious teachings but they are not entitled to treat people who have faith like idiots as certain people on here do. <ok>

well they are not the authourity on th equran or Islam. despite what people tell you
they also tend to be widely illiterate, due to the fighting they have endured in afghanistan since time began

Their abuses are often exaggerated as this seems to be the 'done thong' as they are currently the enemy

But you highlight an important point, and that is people see the taliban or saudi arabia and think islam/muslim

not so

"done thong"

Ex-teacher my arse <laugh>

You're a ****ing fruitloop. Pretending to be an ex-teacher when it's clear as day that you're thick as ****.

You, George and that buffoon Eddie need to **** off to "Area 51" and hopefully never come back <laugh>

What a triumvirate of Dartmoor candidates <laugh>

I Googled 'Quran atheist quote', actually.
I was aware of it, but didn't know the exact wording.

The end of the quote clearly isn't talking about an unfortunate accident befalling those that believe in some falsehood.
"there indeed he finds God, and He pays him his account in full; (and God is swift at the reckoning)".

yes the muslim

as i say if the whole surah/verse is read/understood it becomes clear

remember this is verse 39 you quoted there are 38 before and 64 in total

kudos for admitting the fact you googled though <ok>

this is part of the problem with most things. Its like the 'kill them where you find them' quote that the BNP etc are fond of

completely out of context

I regret even starting this thread with some of the sh*t thats being posted. MODS, could you lock it please.

I have no objection to people stating a view, but using the thread (a serious thread) for personal insults, and feeble attempts at humour is just pissing me off.

Okay fair enough, this debate is too frantic at the moment and I'm tired so I might come back to this to pick your brains about a few things tomorrow <ok>

no worries <ok>

i actually joined these forums to have the odd serious discussion, with obviously a lot of fun

It does get a bit frantic

I suppose the 'numpties' could be ignored but what the hey

I know. I am still waiting on BH to illustrate how he thinks my point on the Taliban and Al Qaeda perverting their faith to justify murder is wrong. If he doesn't I might just add him to my ignore list

some of us have been good mainly dont you think?

jut kids like BH, who resort to insults etc

this is why i stopped teaching, special needs need to be seperated as they can have a disruptive influence on the rest of the class

I just don't understand the internet. I'm possibly the youngest poster on this thread, but i've been the level headed one, whilst all you older "maturer" people have been losing your heads. My mother always said i have the mental age of a 40 year old.

Religion is and always has been a way to control people. Thats my big issue with it, it takes peoples fear of death and tells them although they will die there is a shiny palace in the sky they will go to if they do what they are told whilst here.

Personally I'd rather enjoy the 70 years (or so) I hopefully have and not be restricted by someone else's idea of how I should live my life.

thats a bit unfair isnt it?

No wonder our country is in bits when supposed "ex-teachers" can't even spell "separated" <doh>

Go on, **** off you Baron Von Munchausen. Back to stacking shelves <laugh>

"Ex-teacher" my 'arris <laugh>

i respectfully disagree

I think the continuous attacks on religion and the consequent changing of it to 'fit' is what has really been about 'control'
Religion in its pure form is less about social control than people think, from jesus knocking over the tables in the temple to muhammad giving people the right to stand up to the rulers, is evidence of this to me.

over the years religion has been a barrier to control, as it doesnt tolerate a lot of things that currently are rife. eg interest/usary (the banks anyone)

people who are 'non religious' but believe they 'live' their own life are in denial. they only difference is that you have allowed the likes of bush and blair etc to tell you what is acceptable/right
