It would appear that the chairman of Rennes is a distant relative of Daniel Levy...he was wise enough to insert a 25% sell-on clause in Dembele's contract to BvB, which means that the french club now stand to gain a minimum £30m from his transfer to Barca. Thirty million. I'm hoping that his sharing a gene pool with the bald man means that he also has a fetish for signing useless french midfielders for that exact sum of money.
There was a lot of talk about Mitchell passing on chances to sign both Ousmane Dembele and Alexander Isak for less than £5m combined, with the pair heading for Dortmund soon afterwards. It's also been suggested that Dembele was offered a week-long trial, even though the player wanted an immediate transfer. Can't think how that could have royally pissed off Levy...
Chelsea making a strong Everton side look like a pub team. Puts our game against them last week into proper perspective.
Actually the length of time played was about the only thing Dean got right. After announcing 5 minutes of added time one of the Bournemouth players got injured and the game stopped for about two minutes
I'm not sure that would have been added if City were winning, but he was right to add it. I don't see why there is all the indignation from Shearer and Crooks about the red card. I don't agree with the cautions given for celebrations, but that is the rule at the moment. Dele has also been cautioned for it and I didn't read similar condemnation. As celebrations go Sterling's was one of the most excessive with spectators spilling onto the pitch.
I was being harsh on Dean as he did get that right too. He could easily yellow carded another 5 City players for the same offence. It's a public safety issue so I think the rule is right.
Arsenal playing like.. er. ..Arsenal again. You've got it hand it to Wenger - they're very consistent. His resolve to keep playing the same players, in the same way, despite the same weaknesses being exposed time after time, is commendable. Some might call it stubborn or blinkered, but what do they know.
The Goons implosion has just about saved my weekend - so, cheers for that Arsene. And on that note, the funniest rumour over the weekend has undoubtedly been the idea that they are bidding for Asensio, (arguably) one of the brightest talents in the game and who is clearly at the forefront of Los Ladrones plans for the future. http://www.bbc.com/sport/football/41069665
The total Goon meltdown has eased my disappointment of this weekends poor display for sure. Talk of player exoduses and ex-players losing their **** over Wenger is a sight to behold. And as for Arsenal Fan TV, this weekends uploads are a goldmine of entertainment.
