Looks like I have made my last ever visit to York Racecourse.

I queued up at the turnstiles as usual and there was the ubiquitous bag check. So I opened my camera bag and the guy said I could not take my long lens camera in. He then moved out the way to reveal a sign listing 'prohibited items' and on the list is "long lens photography". So I told him I had been coming here for 30 years with a camera; and he called over his supervisor. She also refused to let me in but said I could leave my gear at 'left luggage' and go in without it. I declined and told her this was the last time I would ever come.

So I have wasted £20 on the train to watch the races in a William Hill betting shop.

Clearly if you are not a beer swilling, burger eating Olly Murs fan, you are surplus to requirements in this sport now.

That is outrageous - why would "long lens photography" be prohibited? Some sort of image copyright nonsense?

Actress's action looked awful in the Lowther. You knew your fate after a furlong.

Dreadful thing QM. Racecourses are making it less friendly as time goes on.

Nice piece of work for the filly there. She'll go to the Arc a fresh horse and worthy favourite.

I'm not a fan of the massive pots in the sales races, they hugely distort the sire average earnings for the year.

Sorry that you had a bad experience QM. If you want to make a complaint go straight to the top and email William Derby, he's not just Clerk of the Course he's pretty much the managing director. His PA's (Jane) email address is on the York website. William is a lovely chap and I'm sure they'd take your comments seriously as they are a very proactive course.

You can also copy in Lord Grimthorpe as Chairman of the racecourse, via Juddmonte. If you go on to the Juddmonte website you can find the Racing Office email address which will get to his PA.

I'm being a bit vague in not putting the emails on here, but they are in the public domain if you look for them.

To the pile of 50,000 doubles that just landed in the bin add my weighty single! Baffling performance by Mori, should have been far clear of that lot on known form, potential for improvement and breeding

I went in William Hill and backed Threading (my only bet of the day), so I am not out of pocket.

I remembered that the Knavesmire is public ground, so I went down to the mile and a half start to try and get some photos.

I am sure I got some good ones of Enable and a few of the others. Not sure any of my Mori ones will be any good as she is a worrier, who walked around with her head in her chest chewing her bit.

A run that bad will have a reason behind it. Wouldn't be surprised if she turns out to be coming into season.
