Call it rose coloured specs, but still recall him scaring me ****less when he was at WBA, and was delighted when we bought him. Players need games. Rickie looked like a donkey at Liverpool because he didn't play enough. Either play him or sell him, I reckon. There are clubs that would give him a regular game, so it depends upon the manager. If he goes, he should be the subject of fan-love whenever he returns. Hard working player and has scored some great goals. His contribution in the Pelle/Mane front 3 is what I'll always remember about him, apart from that goal last year. But last season he lived off scraps and consequently looked poor at times..

I haven't found anyone who dislikes him, but I am never a fan of having an older player as a 3rd/4th choice. Would rather give those minutes to a young player. Long seems like the character who wants to play aswell, have heard rumours about a move to Reading which would be a good move for him if he is settled in the south.

I'm sure he's a nice chap. And maybe he could be a good player for Burnley or Brighton....

But no, I'm sorry. Signing him didn't make much sense to me at the time, for too much money, and I still feel like he has never fitted in. It was a mistake.

I think the 15/16 season more that justified his price. 1 Goal less than Mane and Pelle. we wouldn't have got a 6th place finish without him. Certainly wasn't a mistake .

Get rid!

I read comments on this forum about what he brings, if he could score goals he would win the Ballon D'or and be worth more than Neymar etc. etc. etc.

The reality is he may run fast, he may scare defenders (but in reality, not that many) but he has poor control at this level (he can trap a ball further than I can kick one), and is about as close to scoring regularly as I am from getting regular blow jobs off Princess Anne. Or her horse.

He isnt bad in the air. Who said white men can't jump...

My view, we should try to get a striker better than Manolo or Charlie - then have a truly great attacking threat. None of this crap about trying to replace a 3rd choice player. What a load of bollocks.

Difference is. He probably wants to score, but I doubt you do in those circumstances. She's your Aunty!!!! :)

Tough one. Moves well, lots of options with him. Though when junior and I are playing footie in the garden, a massive row z miss is called a Shane Long...

What appeals to me is the nuisance factor and dragging defenders out of position, I just wish he could shoot towards the goal

He's a waste of a shirt yet you were considering getting him tattooed on you? What an extraordinary state of affairs! FWIW I think the lad is a model professional and the poll should have a third option - ask Shane what he wants and oblige.

Ironic tattoo for his semi final goal. He is a waste of a shirt - he's not good enough for us. Or are we not allowed to say that because he's a "model pro" and a "nice guy".

Everyone can have an opinion on this, but ultimately it's down to the manager and if he deems that Shane is good enough then as long as he wears the shirt I hope that fans won't get on his back. You will always get 100% effort and commitment from him and that's all that we can ask for.

Quite a few reports coming out that Burnley have had a bid accepted for Leeds' Chris Wood, if they are true would imagine that any deal for Long would be off the table

Oh, I just tipped the balance. 34 to 33. Sorry Shane, thanks for the good season and all that.

Fans dont really get on his back. They're too preoccupied getting out of the way of his shots. LOL!! Lol.
