Must admit although not totally sure that it was the case, started to think a couple of weeks ago that Gylfi didn't possibly fit in with Paul Clements plans of how he wanted us to be set-up & play. Went to the Sampdoria game & yes admittedly they didn't offer a lot in that game & thus probably then difficult to judge our play, But one thing that stood out for me was the difference in our play. I thought our football was more cohesive, more fluid & a lot more varied. Carroll & Fer actually looked like they had real roles & thrived from it. Whilst I'm not one of his biggest fans & is well past his sell by date, Wayne Routledge then added the 'gel' to Abraham at the top of the diamond. The style of the short, quick passing game that we became renowned for, seemed to have returned. Maybe Clement didn't see that as possible as much with Gylfi incorporated into the side, because of course he was our best player & you should & have to play him. Last season he like sticking him out wide a lot which was at the total dismay of us fans.

They wanted to cash in, Clement wasn't that fussed & maybe that was enough for Gylfi to carry the move through. Last season they 'thought' about the offer from Everton & that convinced Williams, fvck this I'm off...

    Just my opinion of course..

Also of course, we need to sign the 'right' players to make this work across a season. Routledge is not good enough to be anywhere near the first team.

As individuals we are not in the 'entertaining business' & without fans' a club would be fvck all. As individuals you don't need to have fans'...

Isn't Sam Clucus just a bit of a clone of Tom Carroll though? Not sure he's an off the striker type of player Gylfi is (or indeed where Rout's new role is)

Unless we're squad building and letting Ki go?

Agree. We need to sign a Mata type player. Someone who is quick with his touches, can change directions of play easily and has a creative touch.

If a serious bid has been made, presumably the Club see him as a useful addition to the playing staff.

Stoke did bid £8-£10m for him last year I recall? Maybe a player + cash deal for Joe?

Here we go, £12m turned down means we'll have to pay £20m for average players because clubs know we've got £45-£50m ready to spend.

Why shouldn't other less favoured Clubs share in the financial bonanza that is the P.L. ? They have to eat as well.

My point being, we told the whole damned world we wouldn't be buying players until Gylfi got sold.

We should have had deals in place to sign players at the same time we negotiated with Everton. A case of, as soon as a Gylfi signed for Everton, we immediately sign our targets.

Clubs now know we have £50m to spend so will be held to ransom.

It's only money. It was given to the Club, so now they have to give some away. Seems reasonable to me.

He seems to have been around forever. I'm not sure about loaning out to different Clubs every season. Someone should make a decision about him. He needs some permanency.

Hopefully it's a loan with a view to buy type of deal.
