Keita has not forced the issue. He also had the option of handing in a transfer request. RB Leipzig braced to lose Liverpool target Naby Keita next summer
Yep agree on that. It was likely he would leave at some point in the near future, personally I thought next summer, but with the Neymar transfer obviously things have come forward a year. My hope is that we get as much from Barca as possible, tell them to stop low balling and hold them to hostage to their desperation. This is my worry over losing Couts, not actually losing him, but losing him and not replacing him. Klopp is stubborn and FSG are tight, its not a great prospect for transfers. There has been too much 'make do' from LFC in recent weeks and frankly that does not bode well for FSG's future with the Club, people are starting to get frustrated that every little bit of progress we make is not backed up and we slip back to not much better than where we started.
anyway within all this anger at coutinho, what i really want to know is how @astro is taking all this that they couldn't sign their top 2 signings and their star player wants to leave.......
Noticed alot of opposition fans doing this. Coming here saying we shouldn't begrudge Couts want to leave for someone like Barca and the truth is that most of us don't (read back). We've been resigned to the fact he will go as some point in the next couple of years for sometime. Think we're worried about the time, that its so close to the deadline and worry of a replacement. And that Klopp and FSG haven't shown much savvy in the transfer window thus far. And just to nullify the VvD comparison, yes we're in a similar situation with Couts but unlike Soton fans we wont begrudge a transfer and shout insults at Barca just because they want to sign one of our players. As long as we can get a ridiculous fee for Couts then thats football and all the best to him, think Soton fans should feel the same about VvD.
Behave yerself, Bobby. At least try and make a valid point. Do you think he was sought after through the "barren years" ()? . He's only recently started to show some consistent form and almost immediately they're after him. Do you think anyone would have offered anywhere a top fee for him a couple of years ago?
What about Firmino in all this. Does he have any friends left at the club? All the Brazilians are going
Really not fussed I resigned to losing him last year to Barca so sort of #calledit Just hope we get a good deal Timing is very ****ty but if I am Klopp I can use this to galvanise us. Ftr I would love to see us shove him in the reserves but it just won't get us anywhere Match day tomorrow Maybe just concentrate on the league this year As good as city are they can only play 11 at one time
Amazingly not many do feel this but if you need to tell yourself that you are the only paragons of goodness work away
The "make do" phrase is used by disgruntled fans - it's not the declared intention of FSG. They've shown a readiness to spend on worthwhile targets, but aren't so keen to spend on second best. You could just as easily describe this as sound business sense. Klopp has said many times he doesn't want players who aren't his primary targets, whether or not that's wise is something else we'll have to wait and see. Speaking of which - the window doesn't close for a while yet.
I don't get why they are angry tbh... I knew the minute the club pulled this back injury that he was off.
Not really a meltdown You just confirm my whole point. He's hardly being paid '**** all' is he ... now you're going to say 'in comparison to whatever top star, he sure is' I know But, the amount of money these people are paid (at the PL and equivalent international top level) is sickening ... 30k a week, ****ing hell, I'd be crying in my morning coffee every damn day man, every damn day We provided him with the platform and at no point can you say he has carried the team, no way man. As I and others have said over the last pages, he's a bit of a fair-weather player actually and goes missing frequently so in that sense we won't miss him, especially if the club actually replaces him with a player(s) of quality who show(s) more consistent application. I'm hardly optimistic on that front for obvious reasons Anyway, as I said, the amount of money, greed and cynical opportunism in this game is completely sickening and farcical. These dumb ****s and their talentless, work shy hangers on like agents, wives/gfs, associates, are lucky they're good at kicking a bit of synthetic leather around on the grass because I'm sure they'd genuinely have something to moan about if their Lamborghinis, Range Rovers and new-build mansions were suddenly taken away and they had to live in the real world on a real salary for a minute. The whole thing's an utter joke and disgusting and the fact that this industry/sport and the players involved in the extortion are worshipped by so many people around the world and occupies so much of our time/interest in the various ways (through the media, forums like this, chat with mates) makes it no better either. You have to look at it and say can't we be better than this corporate cesspit, really
Excuse me that's make do tm.... as in that's my catchphrase. Lfc has shown huge willingness to settle for second best in the past. Mario balotelli.
