Reds announce squad for Champions League playoffs Philippe Coutinho involved. No Danny Ings, which tells us his recovery will last a while longer. No Mamadou Sakho or Lazar Markovic either. Goalkeepers: Mignolet, Karius, Ward Defenders: Matip, Lovren, Klavan, Gomez, Masterson*, Clyne, Alexander-Arnold*, Moreno, Robertson, Flanagan Midfielders: Coutinho, Henderson, Wijnaldum, Can, Milner, Grujic, Brannagan*, Ejaria*, Woodburn* Forwards: Firmino, Sturridge, Origi, Solanke, Mane, Salah, Kent*, Ojo*, Wilson*, Brewster
I heard a suggestion yesterday that Ings might be farmed out to Burnley. Have no idea where he is in his comeback though.
If this was true it makes it even easier for LFC. Coutinho could huff all he likes but we say no, Barca go get someone else showing he wasnt wanted quite that desperately and Coutinho not going anywhere... IMO Barca would be back next year no matter what as it's a matter perception. They can't be seen to lose top players and have little clubs like Liverpool knocking them back all in one year lol.
From Barca perspective mate not mine. To go from being top two club in the world to having one of your best players WANT to leave to a lesser league and in their eyes a club they should raid at will knocking them back? All off the back of Real being kings of Europe at the mo? They'd need to prove something to their base either on the field or in the market. Despite what others think I don't believe we see our selves in quite the same light so wouldn't view Southampton as a little club that should just do as it's told... I'm sure the wums will be along to disagree.
I hope we simply say nope, 5 year contract, get on with it. Come back in 2 years. Before i get reminded about VvD. The same applies. It's about time that the shift in power towards the player became more balanced......will it actually happen? I doubt it.
Its well known that Barca have been looking at Couts for a few seasons, its just now they have to replace Neymar (although its more likely a replacement for Inesta) and have a huge amount of cash burning a hole and desperate to keep up with Real, hence the approach this summer. So if he's a long term target we can either make them wait as they'll be back next summer or milk them for as much of that £200m to test their desperation. Either way we eventually lose Couts but have the money.
Gillem ballbag...now saying further bids might not happen and might look elsewhere....even funnier it's now all the Spanish media's fault for giving the impression transfer was impending just for "clicks" Lol...while no doubt true, the distancing exercise by Barca from media stories suggests they don't think they're getting him...
The Spanish media belong to Real and Barca, the clubs deliberately leak stories and have rumours planted in the Spanish press so they don't get accused of tapping up. They can turn around and say it was all the Presses fault for unsettling player X.
What I felt they have tried to do is sour the relationship between manager and player last night. The line was fsg will deal but this is all klopp fault. It's all games with them and frankly Southampton should take note how coutinho is acting. Off did nothing more than city and Chelsea did bar of course doing it face to face and southampton have somehow managed to do the rest to themselves and have continued to make it worse.... by themselves. Barca are experts at trying to break down relationships and go after weak links like this. It will be down to how strong klopp and coutinho are to resist the barrage and I'm sure some hacks today will be going in with loaded grenades to our presser. Should be fireworks.
That guy has tried to maintain the itk rep that he cultivated with rafa but knows **** all. He has been done royally by this and has been wrong half tbe time

Happy anniversary Maureen. On this day... Posted at10:43 2005: The Premier League upheld its guilty verdicts on Ashley Cole and Jose Mourinho in the Chelsea tapping-up scandal - but reduced their fines to £75,000 each.
Cout is in the squad for CL game on Wednesday. Play him then and Barca won't want him this year anyway as will be ineligible for CL. Job done.
