[QUO TE="PLT, post: 10752681, member: 1000343"]I think that's exactly it. He did alright for Cardiff but apart from that he's always been in the PL hasn't he? He's always been either injured or not getting a game due to being at a club with plenty of other strikers. Every so often he pops up doing something decent though. For us, a club with a chronic striker shortage, I think he's ideal.[/QUOTE] Yes against us lots of times so I'm glad he's back with us.
I really do ****ing love this. He's just synonymous with that season when it was so great to be a City fan. So many good memories of him in a City shirt. Can't remember the last time I was actually really pleased by something happening at City.
Hats off to Ehab for pulling this one out of the bag. Credit where it's due. Great business this, I'm impressed.
I am quite suprised by the number of comments on here that are very pleased with the signing. I think it is nostalgia and the concern of people about the lack of signings that is making everyone go abit far with this. Forget the name for a minute and look at his stats he is an injury prone striker who has averaged less than 15 league appearances a season and averages 2.5 goals per season. Stats dont say everything but I just can not get excited about this. He has really unfufilled what should have been a promising career and in our current state the last thing we need is another player coming here who isnt fully commited ( May have been speculation but hasnt he turned down moves to us on a number of occasions, if he had any strong feelings for this club he would have come on a previous occasion surely? ) and still more importantly has a crap goal record.
You're right, let's forget the name. We've just signed a 29 year old striker with a 1 in 2 goal scoring record in this league who has been capped by England, and we signed him for free.
It makes no difference. Just because he scored 15 goals for us 10 years ago doesnt mean that he is still at that level now. He has spent most of the last decade with one injury or other. As much as I would love him to come and bang 20 goals this year I just can not see it happen.
It does make a difference. He also did well in this league with Cardiff more recently. He was also free and signed likely as depth.
I wish I shared your Enthusiasm. I have a feeling Ehab will come to the same conclusion as yourself and think we have just signed on a free a Club hero who has played for England. We have 4 forwards at the club now we wont need to buy anyone else.
Which I think Im safe in saying we both Agree is bollocks and we need another Striker in, not to mention 3 defenders and probably a couple of midfielders now
Sounds like a defender and mid are imminent so a good start. Gives us a platform now to further bolster as players can now see us as rebuilding properly.
I'm not sure that's what we're expecting from him. I think we'll be looking for 15-20 goals from Hernandez with Campbell chipping in with 7-12.
