And for what it's worth, losing Tom wouldn't be a big loss IF we had signed more players by now, he's coasted for the last few season and not really produced a bit like Elmo (if he goes) I agree we should have and I would have wanted us to do more business by now, but until the window closes there is still time for us to do business and I'm sure we will
All the talk of asset stripping though is quite funny
All the players who have gone or are looking like they are going are players I was expecting to lose (bar CD) Harry was always going to go and the same with Robinson.
And just to put the record straight, I don't support the allams, I want them gone, I just won't blame them for absolutely everything without question. I try to stay Open minded and look at things without blinkers either way![]()
Problem is, the more players we lose without replacing them, regardless of whether we expected to or not, the more it looks like asset stripping, planning for mediocrity or whatever term you want to use, to the world of agents and players, not just to us fans.
Where is the statement of intent for someone like Clucas or Grosicki, who possibly could buy into another season with us IF it looked like we actually meant to have a go at getting straight back to the Premier League?
This makes absolutely no football sense given Ehab stated he wanted us to have our business done early, we intend to go straight back up etc, and very little business sense given it will be much harder/expensive to persuade clubs/agents/players now they see a) we have taken over £20m in outgoing transfer fees, and b) it looks like instead of joining a core of experienced PL and promotion winning players, they will be joining a bunch of kids and Michael Dawson.
