Whilst I don't want to sound irresponsibly optimistic about the fitness retention of David Connolly, I have to point out that the player actually isn't injury prone, despite his history over the last few years. He has spent of lot of his career injury free, and his return to full fitness, this time, could last the whole season. Of course, he could get himself clobbered at any time, by a burly defender, or turn an ankle badly, whilst landing from a leap. But all players can suffer that fate. Injury prone players like Jonathan Woodgate break down whilst training or playing, even when they are otherwise perfectly free from previous injuries. Connolly isn't in that bracket, as far as I have read, and being one of those smaller, Keegan type, players means that 34 years is no age to be worrying that it'll all end soon. Plus, NA doesn't seem to be too bothered about Connolly lasting the pace of a game, and appears to substitute him just as much for tactical reasons as anything else. Yes, he could be crocked tomorrow. But so could any player. Let's hope they all have a relatively injury free season.
Do we need more players..? I'm not at all sure we do, at present.
