Gylfi will go where he wants to go and that will be to the team that offers him the most money.....I said before and i have said it a lot that Gylfi is a money mad twat....He only returned to us because we offered the most in wages at the time. The fee will only reach £50m if he reaches the targets set and we will probably only get if we are lucky £30m and the rest in add on's as that how it works. ......So here we are as usual off on our pre season tour that suppose to get the players match fit with a bunch of Has beens, Div1 and 2 standard players and one game wonders and a sprinkling of average premiership standard players and this is the squad that we have to rely on this season.........Not a chance in hell and looks worse than last season.......Losing in our first pre season game too a L2 side is sending alarm bells what a poor side we are again......
My wife's the same..she got offered a job in a company the other side of town, with better facilities, great pension and nearly 40% pay rise. AND SHE TOOK IT! What a money mad twat eh?
Whilst referring to Sigurdsson as being "a money mad twat", you might want to consider the FACT that he, and all other professional footballers, are just one tackle away from a career ending injury. Just ask Ferre Bodde about that. This is why most of them move for as much money as they can get, when they can get it. They would be "twats" not to.
I know,as well as others on here, men who have put their LIVES on the line every time they walked through the Steelworks gates. Some have LOST their lives, for a pittance compared to what these footballers get for kicking a ball around. Life>Perspective>Please. Thankyou.
Sure, but this is a football forum and we are discussing a particular football player and his apparent greed, which is seemingly causing much angst. He is entitled to ply his trade wherever he wishes, and if he wishes to succumb to the highest bidder, then that's entirely HIS prerogative. No point in comparing him with any other workers.
I think we will see a lot of Mesa , Fer and Carroll in mid field . Britton in for Carroll on teams pressing us . Ki will come back eventually . Fulton will probably make the sub bench a lot if we don't sign another midfielder. All based off if Siggy goes
If he is gone, so be it, we get every penny we can out of it and we simply have to re invest. There is no one at the club who offers us anywhere near what Siggy has. We still have plenty of time to find a replacement and I am sure since the end of last season, PC would have known there was a possibility of him leaving and will have identified alternative players to come in. So I just hope the club does spend some of the money we will have had from Burnley and whoever Siggy goes to.
Ok. I'll remember that. Oh.....he signed,I believe a 3 year contract with us.So maybe he will go where we,Swansea City, tell him to gr maybe he just stays here.
The difference for me is, I agree they are one tackle away from ending career, but he (Siggy) will have massive insurance and has already earned Millions in football and if he had to walk away I don't think he will be down the dole office looking for jobseekers allowance. I have no problem moving for the money, just have the bollox to say.
Sadly, it doesn't work like that. Someone once said that " contracts are not worth the paper they are written on", or something along those lines, and that is very true in football. The Club cannot tell him where to go. They can be obstructive, but at what cost. It is apparent he wants to go, so the Club will acquiesce to his request, or have one very unhappy player in the dressing room. But not before maximising their asset.
We were saying we need to get better replacements before last season ended and looking at the squad who have gone on pre-season we have not acted upon it....
" No point in comparing him with any other workers " Why not ? It is a forum and it brings perspective to what is being discussed . You put emphasis on a rich footballer putting his career on the line with every tackle . 55282 countered with someone puts more than his career on the line for next to nothing . Thought it was moving smoothly .....
Dai, I am hoping that things are moving along behind the scenes with regard to bringing in players. You are right, we did say we needed to strengthen our starting 11 and not just squad players. Ok Messa looks good, but we need an awful lot more.
He may well have "massive insurance" but unless you know the actual details of the policy, it's all speculation. He is doubtless a millionaire, but do you know what his lifestyle outside football is, or would be in the future. No footballer is going to turn down the opportunity of doubling/trebling his wages, regardless of who they play for, or what supporters think. It's unrealistic of fans' to think otherwise.
