I hope we don't rely on Fer, he is ok but no replacement for Siggy. We simply have to re invest.
I agree , we should sign someone . BUT , we may not and I'm comfortable with Fer moving in behind the striker . He brings more power and aerial presence that Siggy . Siggy brings everything else .. superb player . We just need to use that power and aerial presence in attack as we move away from the kinda game Siggy brought us . Fer will be all attack with little defensive duties ... how he plays best .

" No point in comparing him with any other workers " Why not ? It is a forum and it brings perspective to what is being discussed . You put emphasis on a rich footballer putting his career on the line with every tackle . 55282 countered with someone puts more than his career on the line for next to nothing . Thought it was moving smoothly .....:)

Then open a thread where we can discuss the relative merits of wages/salaries/pensions of various professions etc.

Do I think footballers are overpaid ?
Do I think nurses, dustmen, etc ., are underpaid?

If you are familiar with any of my outpourings, you would know that I say YES to both questions.

I am not saying he should, just have the balls to say he going for the money and I would have no problem with that. If he finished tomorrow, his lifestyle wouldn't change. I don't think any fan is being unrealistic at all. they all know he is going for the money and they all would do it themselves, they don't have to like it though.

Why , there's a thread going here about overpaid footballers amongst transferring . You made a good point about footballers careers being on the line with every tackle , someone compared that to what others put on the line . Carry on ...lol

We will have this debate all season Roof. whilst I like Fer I am not happy to go into the season with him there, great cover and will give us something, but no where near a replacement for Siggy. I prefer Fer sitting deep and making tackles and breaking quickly, for me that where he is at his best. But we will have to wait and see what PC does, I don't think Fer featured much at all towards the end of the season and he played Ayew further on.

Why should he have to say he is "going for the money" ? It's no ones business but his.
Fans' are quick to pounce on players when they leave. A lot is down to perceived hurt, slight, disappointment, etc., but players move on, so should supporters.
I well remember the abuse that Sinclair and his girlfriend had thrown their way. It was pathetic and very embarrassing.

Pre - season is all about getting the squad for the season to play together and gel and get match fit.......Most of the squad that flew out wont be in the first team or should not be in the first team as they are either past it or not good enough......But we all know that anyway and said so many times last season......Now with Non travelers Gylfi and Llorente almost certain to have played their last game we look much weaker than last season and for a side that have been dreadful this last few seasons then you would think we would be better prepared this season.......Seems not...

I still like his interview , after he got his award , about how happy he is at Swansea and if he goes it will be because the owners wanted to sell him . Know as trick #13 in the " How to deflect greed away from yourself in the upcoming transfer "

Maybe I'm wrong .. but where did Fer play when Siggy moved toward the wing. All Im saying is I think Clement moved Siggy to the wing to play Fer behind the striker . I could be wrong , but if I'm right there's a good chance that if Siggy goes , Clement will start Fer behind the striker ... Law of common sense really

So you would prefer the usual bollox, it was a hard decision. I love the club, blah blah blah. I actually think he should, I believe that he owes it to the people who have paid his wages for the last few years. I hate bull **** and prefer honesty. So we may disagree on this, but I know you don't care and no do I. so we will have to agree to disagree, otherwise we will just go back and forth constantly.

I couldn't agree more, lets hope that we have targets ready and we will set something in motion. They were never going to sign until Siggy left, I just hope they have something lined up. I also agree that the squad that has gone to USA is a lot weaker than last season and if we go into the season with that it will be Championship football next season. As it stands so much for the comment, 'we will not let that happen again' which we heard at the end of last season. Seems a little more like deja vu to me.

I just don't take it personally when a player leaves, for whatever reason. That's the way it is in football. There's nothing noble about the game. So why expel so much energy in fighting it.

What do the people who serve you in Supermarkets, Pubs, restaurants owe you after you spend your money, i.e., pay their wages, at their workplace ? Absolutely nothing once they have served you.

Your expectations of footballers is perhaps too high.

Dustmen - that's got to be a minimum wage job surely. Anything else is too much.

Players will come and players will go and that is just the way it is in football. But what i hate is we never go into the transfer market Knowing that our defense these last few seasons has not preformed to a standard needed for premiership football and we dont go in early and snap up some bargains that were available. We also knew there was more than a good chance that we would lose our two best players and again the best we can do is bring in a loan player that has not got any form of premiership football instead of bringing in a proven premiership striker even if we have to spend £25m+ for him as that is still cheap with the way transfers for quality strikers go... We are so lacksy daisy when it comes to strengthening the side and i can see us panic buying towards the end and buying players not suited....We never seem to learn from past mistakes whoever the manager is....
