It was a bit of a lesson on throwing youngsters in and just hoping they won't make mistakes. They do and some take it quite badly. All eyes are currently on De Gea and look at the crap Insua and NGog took because they weren't boy wonders like Owen and Fowler, developing at a normal rather than a precocious pace. Anyway, John Coleman said he'd spoken to Rodolfo recently about loans and was told the club won't be loaning out young players anymore, not the ones we intend to develop.
I think if the opportunity was there give first team experience to youngsters it should be to premier league sides, also with the option to recall them back on short notice. That way it would enable them to prove they can play at the top level week in/week out.Of course this wont always be a viable option depending on the potential of the individuals in question, hence why the likes of Pacheco ended up at a championship side(Norwich) and not the likes of Bolton(Obviously Daniel Sturridge proved his worth there).
That makes sense, keeping an eye on those who need to be kept an eye on. Although, there is a question to when they will get a run out, It'd mean players like Maxi, Cole, Insua, Meireles etc.. having to leave to make space just because they're on the fringe. Oh also, you don't win anything with kids!
lots of good points made in this artilce unitl the rather obvious wum turned up.. lets just ignore that comment eh? i think the point on players we have signed going on loan should be added to in that thier clubs were not doing it to shift them. the point that other clubs... like oh utd and say chelsea may be using loans on players like welbeck or sturridge to benefit their club is a good one. Conversely the point that rafa sold a lot of players never having given them a go is also well made. loans were a bad thing. it was like you were moved out so some other yuong lad could take your spot and when you came back you were behind them.. the expereince counted for nothing, So i think the loan thing is something we need to see changed and wonder how this will work from now on... a loan should be a finishing school so i don't see why its the championship that we are focusing on here. Adding to that league one seems pointless to me, others are loaning to the prem... why can't we???
It's a bit of a dilemma. Young, inexperienced players will always make mistakes- but you only gain experience by playing. Going out on loan does obviously help in that way, but it's true that the parent club can lose track a little of how the player is developing, and also if the coaching methods are different, they may be learning a way of playing that doesn't entirely suit the parent club. I don't know any figures, but I don't remember all that many players we've sent on loan who then successfully integrate into the first team at a later date. I tend to think that they get sent out precisely because we don't really expect them to step up eventually. If we think a player has sufficient potential, we have to weigh up whether we can cope with the odd mistake in order to develop them for the future.
Thats why it would be better if we could loan to PL teams so that the spotlight would be on them alot of the time. Also the alternative to this is that if they dont look like they will be improving they have still essentially put themselves in the shop window. Its a win-win situation for the parent club.
Agreed. Also, you would expect them to be coached to a level more consistent with that which we would require from them. Learning how to play to a middling Championship standard means they still have a big step up to make back in the Prem.
Hi RHC, Doing great... had been staying busy- but hit a quiet patch at work- so decided to check the forums out whilst waiting. It's been pretty-darn hot here. We went for two weeks in a row with the daily highs getting above 100F every day. (getting up to about 38C-40C). Rest of the summer has been getting above 30C. Hot, dry... I've got a nice grey-brown lawn. Cooled down a bit as of late... only about 30C now. How are things with the collider?
Another yank? Awesome. On the subject, I believe that loans can be a way of seeing if a fellow will mature into a player that you will be able to utilize, either when they get back or in the future, without having to give playing time to them when you could be playing someone else. Especially effective when you have many youths that won't all get gametime in your team. Also, good shout with the coaching styles, makes sense. Don't want to send a defender to Sam allerdyce, have him learn hoofball, no simple passing...
Red Baron, No sorry, not a yank, I'm a Brit... kinda. I was born and lived my childhood in England. Half English and half Eastern European. I have lived my adult life in the US though.
Fair enough... You like it here, then? I plan on joining the military so I can live in England ASAP. Wanna watch a premier league game!!!
I think like any country- it depends where you are. I like where I used to live in the US. Work took me to a different part of the state. The city I live in now (Columbia, SC) is a bit of a cesspool- rednecky, rundown and without sufficient infra-structure to support the population (I loved the last city I lived in though, used to live in Greenville, SC, great, attractive, well-planned small city!)- but yes, overall I like the US, and South Carolina. I wouldn't say better or worse than England- there are advantages and disadvantages to both. I've lived in the US so long- I probably wouldn't recognise England any more.
San Antonio is the opposite... Too many houses for not enough people. Houses were being thrown up left, right, and center, with no people to buy them anymore. But yeah, the roads are, as you said, not enough to support the sudden increase here in town. The city I used to live in, Wichita falls, was great... Small town/city, one mall, a huge football complex, fields from A-JJ. There were kids from 4 all the way to an over thiry league, with plenty of chances to ref. I reffed little kids, played, and watched my parents. It was so much fun. Now the three leagues I play in are 1.indoor 2.30 minute drive away 3.six a side bad side of town league. At least I still get to play, though.
Luv. Is the obscene power already going to your head. Wakka is as much a wacca as I am a manc. There's an 'N' missing from his name.
