But you've just contradicted yourself; you said you wanted quality, so why bring in a player that's failed to impress in the last 4 years at this level and is currently on trial at a League 1 club? Cheap cover would be a loan signing or free transfer from a PL club.

There's a player in Stewart, but for whatever reason it hasn't been showing. We're going to need an awful lot of new players and we need quality over quantity but I'd still be half tempted to gamble on him or at least give him a trial. He has raw pace and that's something we lack in attacking areas.

Free transfer aren't necessarily cheap at all, especially from a PL team. I'm hoping that the loanees we sign will be a lot more than 'cover'

Give it up, he's ****ing useless and we won't be remotely interested in signing him.

**** OFF

Many names being touted on here are tending toward the usual everyday suspects and unimaginative proven mediocracy. Hopefully when acquisitions are finally made they might be quality players from perhaps other spheres rather than the above.

Bit funny seeing some City fans who have never heard of him moaning about us "scraping the barrel" again without actually looking into this guy's record.
I saw him in an u21's game a couple of weeks a go. He scored two and set up another two I think.

"I try to speak to everybody and I think a good domestic core of leaders is important. Only British players can be leaders here and in Hull like Dawson, Huddlestone and Clucas they are important.

I hope there will be new signings soon, each negotiation is not easy and believe me we are very close to loan players and buy players. But it is not easy but of course with the team who is relegated there is a lot of gossip and we have two targets. First to keep the squad and second some new players and loan players because we have some free positions like centre defence.

It is possible to loan from Chelsea we are speaking and maybe we have information before our trip to Portugal."

Why would the Everton lads have been good? Galloway only featured 3 times in a West Brom squad which only contained one left back Nyom and he's not particularly good. And Browning was in an out of the Preston side. I'd have been majorly disappointed if we would have signed them.
Both have a reasonable amount of experience around a big squad. They might not have had bags of game time but they would be no worse than what we already have and without a fee to boot. Granted we probably wouldn't have built a squad around them but they would have been a welcome inclusion to a threadbare team.
Don't get me wrong, we can probably do better but they would have been a good place to start.

It's true that Browning was in and out of the Preston side.

He played when he was available and didn't play when he was injured.

As it's the Preston manager who's just signed him for Sunderland, he was obviously impressed.

If one aim is to keep players why keep slapping price tags on them?
