Cracking post Sterling, exactly my point. I for one don't just want signings, I want the right quality players brought in. You can see today that it's got a bit livelier now everyone is back in pre season.
Hang on though, last time in the Championship we signed Maloney and gave him around £20k pw to not play. We could give Stewart under 5k. It's cover, I'd rather bring in cheap cover than waste money on other ****e
But you've just contradicted yourself; you said you wanted quality, so why bring in a player that's failed to impress in the last 4 years at this level and is currently on trial at a League 1 club? Cheap cover would be a loan signing or free transfer from a PL club.
Clucas for £10m probably some truth. Let's face it £10m seems to be the price we'll sell almost any player for.
Quite seriously, with our earnings from the PL last season (think we spent something like 5-10m net in the windows + 65m wages = 70-75; earnt 100m = 25-30m profit) + 17m Maguire + 10m Robertson + 9m Grosicki + 10m Clucas = 75m = debt owed to the Allams. Can they not just pocket that and then flog the club for free?
Looks like we're in for a Cardiff striker. I'm positive IF we are going to start splashing money on a few bids for players, but at the same time some bargain purchases to add some depth would be good. Since Forest have put a 15m price tag on Assombalonga, I'd be quite happy to pay that for him. Him and Hernandez up top would be great together.
Assombalonga is the only one we want to be buying if we want to go up. Only worry is his injury record. Maybe to much of a similar type to Hernandez? We need pace mind.
Hernandez has a bit of pace when he is played through on goal - that goal against Burnley and then last season against Bournemouth in the PL spring to mind. This guy from Cardiff has a decent scoring record but don't know much about him in terms of style.
Bit funny seeing some City fans who have never heard of him moaning about us "scraping the barrel" again without actually looking into this guy's record.
