I can't believe we'd take under £1m, unless his wages are so high in combination with Farke not fancying him as a player? OK he wants to go, but I still can't believe the new regime would let him go that cheap as a favour or loyal service. I mean another £700k to get the £1.5m would buy another 12 players now we're shopping at pound stretcher!

Bah!

This fecking club of ours is a joke when it comes to transfers. We always seem to pay over the odds for players, then sell our best players on for a fraction of their real worth.
In today's market place Howson has got to be worth £8-10M (he will be sold for half that ), Murphy £12-15M minimum (he will go to Newcastle for half that).
I hope I'm wrong but I very much doubt I will be <grr>

Sky Sports have stated that Dorrans fee is £1.3m. Probably get 'undisclosed ' from NCFC - they are so canny. So on we go to Howson and Middlesbrough?

I have no idea how a club "who is skint despite regularly getting Premiership money" can afford to replace Howson/Dorrans or both with about 3-4M by the time you take into account the fees, and wages.

Are the same donkeys still in place negotiating deals?! I thought we had a new staff team in place!?

With Howson & Dorrans looking to be heading for the exit door, I hope we soon see some new players come through the entrance door. We haven't made any new signings since Zimmermann on June 16th. Hope we've got a quality player lined-up to replace JH when he goes

I think we've already got him in the fold. I reckon Maddison will be a regular CM by the middle of this season coming.

I think his preferred position is further forward, but when we played Dinamo Zagreb, he dropped further back to accommodate Cantwell and yet still managed to draw his 2nd penalty.
Ok, that's good, but he isn't a player who is use to sitting in midfield like Howson or Dorrans. That new midfielder we got from Germany isn't one either. So who does that leave us with? Tetty? Thompson if he isn't sent out on loan? Is there anyone else?

Thompson I'm sure will be regular in the starting 11 and I think Godfrey is quite a versatile midfielder, though he was played mostly as a CB when playing for the under 23s. It's ging to be interesting to see how those two and any of the other youff team are utilised in the coming season.
As I see it, AP is most likely to play behind the striker and it would really give the opposition something to think about if JM was playing at the same time, but I fear it's most likely that AP will start with JM replacing him - especially in early season!!!

Surely if we're looking for the players like Maddison & co to step up a level, we should be looking to play them in their preferred / best role. Otherwise we're just setting them up to fail. Once there comfortable in there preferred role then we can look at them taking on a secondary role.

Also young players should be eased in and eventually make the position their own because they are better than the existing player ,not beause they are a last resort.

If they can't cope or god forbid get injured we have no cover.
Tetty has shot knees so he won't be playing every week.

Have we sold any midfielders yet ?

Bah !
You know the guy that scored in the play off final ,one of the best days ever as a Norwich fan ?

Not Redmond the other guy, looking to sell him for pittance to pay towards the Wildshut swoop.<laugh>

From what I've read, I thought Vrancic was much more comparable to Dorrans or Howson, than Tettey or Hoolahan.

This was said about him when he signed:
"Vrančić is a very consistent, deep-lying playmaker who would operate from central midfield, occasionally last season he played on the left, but his best and favourite position is in the middle. He is not much of a goalscorer or assist provider, however he is the link between defence and attack. At Darmstadt he began almost every attack and was the transition player, assigned to be the player who started attacks. He has a wide-range of passing skills, is able to pass between the lines and find a long ball out to a wide player. Defensively, he is always well-positioned but is not the best tackler - that is not his job, to be honest. The best use of him is in a more advanced central midfield role in which defensive work is still needed, but not essential."
