I have liked Reed for a long time. IMO we signed one too many midfielders (or they never got injured enough) and he didn't get enough opportunities. He was the best passer in our youth team...and the worst tackler.

Just seen him described as a ginger Kante! We've gotta a Farke, why not a Kante too?
This surely is an exciting new chapter in Canary history
    Bah!

Yeah that comparison has been around for a while too. Maybe it's true, maybe it's just the hair.

Worst tackler? Really? I thought that was a main part of his game? does he just sit, wait for the ball and pick a pass? Does he not chase and work hard?

Just seen on ITV Anglia news reports are linking us with a move for Newcastle's Daryl Murphy(yes him formerly of binman Road) aka the next Lafferty/Dean Coney?

I doooooon't believe it! Another Murphy? Fulham after CJ so he could be a useless replacement? Howson off to Middlesbrough for a reported £4.5m. I sincerely hope we hang on for at least another £1m. Ok now on to Josh M and at least £10m. Seems strange that all this transfer news is coming fairly soon after the window opened its usually in the last hour before the window closes! What do we need now? A left back, a super swift striker for peanuts and Naismith being sort by Man City for megabucks.

Daryl Murphy no thanks, Ings on loan yes please. Murphy reminds me of Lambert and is nearly as old. Looks like CJ on his way out? We are selling our better players to Championship rivals so we must be desperate. Can't see many others coming now, perhaps another striker? Not sure of left back position.

When I saw Steve Morison score for Millwall taking them up in the play off final it was clear that old strikers with heart can still do a job .
Jerome has been brilliant for us and we won't replace him with anyone anywhere near as good.
His goal at Wembley gives him legend status and ripping the guts out of the side whilst sticking with ****ing Rusty is madness.
One of the worst defences and one of the best attacks last season .

Of the "old guard" we needed to retain, they were imo Howson, CamJam and Wes. I don't include the youth and recent signings such as Pritchard and Pinto in the echelon "old guard". If we let Howson and CamJam go, especially to our Championship rivals (as seems likely) then we have made a poor judgement on their worth and value to the side. I accept Jonny might want to return north but we should have gone balls-out (excuse the pun) to retain him.

I see absolutely no point or benefit getting rid of Jerome, while enquiring to Newcastle about the availability of an ex-binner for circa £3m? :emoticon-0112-wonde
Even more so as CJ is 30, Murphy is 34. Jerome is a firm fans' favourite, Murphy is (was) scum, scum, scum...
If this goes ahead, I'll be hugely disappointed in the new regime and the approach it / they are taking.

Murphy is an older poor man's Lafferty as you say selling Jerome and bringing in that donkey would be bonkers

Indeed. Plus if DF wants quick, incisive, high-press possession based football and ball retention is critical to that, why TF would an out and out 'target man' striker fit that mould?
Most, or many of his ITFC goals were from long punts forward, the classic McCarthy 'midfield bypass' technique <doh> which is of absolutely no use to skillful ball players like Wes, Maddison and Pritchard? <grr>

edit: after reading about Vrancic last night, he sounds like a similar ball-playing CM.
On the Archant poll, 33% of voters think we should should pursue Murphy. I'm one of the opposing 67% contingent <ok>

I'd love Ings. I think he would head back to Burnley if he leaves Liverpool though.

Only rumours at the moment guys calm down!

Farke has apparently said he wants to keep Howson so that could be a non-mover or he is trying to drive his price up!

I seriously would not want Murphy here, waste of space, brings nothing to the table that we don't already have! Oliveira is 10x as good at everything Murphy could offer! Watkins could offer another option up front as well as Wildschhut if he stays. Morris as back up!

I'm really not too bothered if we got rid of Cam, he's been good and frustrating in equal amounts. Any striker worth their salt should be able to achieve his scoring tally with the quality they have supplying them.

Whilst I don't want D Murphy he does offer something we lacked last season. A real touch of the mongrel. He can bully defenders in a way that we haven't been able to since Grolt left. Even in a free, I don't see this happening. We're after reducing our wage bill not taking 34 year olds on big wages!

    Bah!
