DF has confirmed Martin will retain the captaincy for this coming season, and he has signed an extended contract to 2019 plus an optional year. I was so hoping for a chang

Just spotted this list of fixture date changes in the EDP and no games on Sky before October -
    The full changes are:

Sun, August 13: Sunderland, Carrow Road (1.30pm)
Weds, August 16: Queens Park Rangers, Carrow Road (7.45pm)

Sun, October 22: Ipswich Town, Portman Road (12pm)
Fri, December 1: Cardiff City, Cardiff City Stadium (7.45pm)
Fri, December 22: Brentford, Carrow Road (7.45pm)

Sun, February 18: Ipswich Town, Carrow Road (12pm)
Weds, February 21: Wolverhampton Wanderers, Molineux (7.45pm)
Fri, March 30: Fulham, Carrow Road (3pm)

We'd be comopeting with a rugby match at Cardiff on 2 Dec - NOT a god idea and most of the others are only changes by a day.
When did the PL/EFL EVER consider the fans - you should know it's ALL about TV revenue!!!

They are thinking of the fans - all the armchair ones and all the ones who watch it on a big TV down the pub.

    edit - that'll be me on December 1st and February 21st <doh>

Quite an interesting article on why Martin has been offered a new contract - "Martin is a leader, who knows the elements you need for a successful dressing room. By giving him a new deal Webber and Farke have obviously already seen what he can bring. You can have all the young and hungry players you want but if you haven’t got that bit of experience to bring it all together then the chemistry for a promotion charge isn’t quite right.
With so much change there does need to be an element of continuity and Martin offers that. From an outsider point of view you get the impression Martin will be the man new recruits look to for advice about the club and how things are done at Colney.
It should also not be forgotten that Martin can also play a bit. His days as a marauding right back are behind him and his conversion to centre half brings a groan amongst some supporters. But with the right partner(s) next to him Martin has proved to be as assured on the pitch as he is off it. Martin will know as well as anyone that the bench awaits if he falls below those standards even if he is now part of the club’s fabric.
    An ‘idol’, no less.
I just HOPE that he is relegated to the bench WHEN his mistakes cost us a goal!!!!

A slightly differing viewpoint on the RM contract extension.
    It includes this intersting snippet:

I know Glenn Middleton who travels to the Scottish games with Martin speaks highly of him in his 'arm around the shoulder' for the youff players especially. As some of the comments after the article state, much of the goodwill that has ensued since the appointment of SW and DF could VERY rapidly be eroded should RM find himself regularly in the starting 11 next season.
I'd LOVE to be proved wrong, but ........

Grayson manager for a matter of hours and they are on their way to signing Galloway and Browning on loan from Everton. Class young defender prospects.

    That's how you do it!

I like what Burnley are doing. They are signing/targeting the right kind of Championship player. The right age, the right potential, the right hunger. Championship players that people have known for a long time would eventually step up.

Tarkowski, Hendrick, Brady, Taylor, Assombalonga. Nice work.

It is worrying, I can't believe we're selling him to a direct promotion rival for only £5m. The only plus side is that we are getting business done early. If Howson and Dorrens are gone by the end of the week and their replacements consequently are in next week, then they will have a relatively full pre season with us. At least it would illustraite some learning from previous windows. What if we held out and held out till the final day of the window and got £7m for Howson, we couldnt then replace him and we'd be in an even worse position. Im disappointed with the fees but if it enables us to get who we want/need and in good time too then maybe these guys know what they're doing. Selling a favourite like Howson relatively cheaply they better do and better start well or the good will could go quickly.

    Bah!
