People always go over the top in their adoration for musicians.
Adele is the same.
Cracking voice, but her music is "meh" to me.
Yet she is adored by millions.
But again, she writes her own music, she plays all the instruments on her songs.
That song "Hello" I was shocked to learn she played the piano AND the drums on that.
She is a bona fide music artist.
I just don't really dig her kind of music all that much.
I think people are misunderstanding me when I say that Ed is a fraud. This is not about copying lyrics or writing his own lyrics, it goes way deeper than that.
His fraud is based around the musical composition, harmony, pitch, duration and placement. In the case he settled out of court there was a total of 39 identical matches of the musical composition, just in the chorus.
In simple terms he copied 70% of the composition in one song and then a further 41% in another song. You might as well have painted the Mona Lisa and added a different background! In the world of art he would have been kicked out and dismissed as a complete fraud.
He did the same with Marvin Gaye, I wouldn't be surprised if he virtually copied the whole composition for that
and he did the same for Tracy Chapman. This is not the same as Queen picking up a small piece from Chic in 'Goodtimes' to 'Bites the Dust' - Sheeran takes it to a whole new level, basically any kid talented enough could steal all musical composition and just add their own lyrics, that is what he has done and what he continues to do, then he follows in the footsteps of Madonna and eventually settles out of court.

Probably helps that his main audience is teeny boppers and women...no real depth of music knowledge..good hair cut, bit of screaming and we are good to go.
Absolutely, the point i was trying to make all along his fans have no knowledge of musical composition so just think it is something new that sounds good. But the problem is he avoids copyright or the permission to use said methods for his lyrics. Basically he is stealing. I think i just get annoyed when people claim it's his own music...no it's not!
