Hmm BBC don't usually say that unless they have good sauces, guess this one might actually be happening..
I agree it's a huge sum but they want close to £120m so yeah its derisory. Lyon want £57m so again nowhere near. I think it's an absurd sum for a player who has had ONE season in Ligue 1 and is totally unproven. I mean Mahrez had one season which far surpassed Mbappe's but now he's not worth a quarter of Mbappe? Yeah righto.
Alexandre Lacazette: Arsenal close to agreeing deal for French striker from Lyon http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40438547 This one has become headline news on the BBC website, so it should have some major meat behind it. They mention negotiations are progressing and that a fee higher than Ozil's. However the Lemar signing doesn't appear to be progressing as well. Sanchez's recent comments on his future don't make it any clearer whether he's staying or not. Has he already made his mind up or is he waiting on what we'll be doing in the market? Who knows.
Looks like Lacazette is almost a done deal. Presume that means that Mpabbe isn't going to happen. The Lemar deal looks more down to Monaco not wanting to lose Bakayoko and Lemar in the same window.
I think it's one or the other but Lacazette is obviously more gettable target as Mbappe is being touted as the second coming of Christ. As for Lemar, it does look a little more difficult as a target as Monaco will end up losing too many players. It also comes down to Sanchez's future and whether we have eyes for Mahrez.
Big signing so well done on getting the blankety blank out, let's just hope for your sake he can live up to the pressure and the PL.
If all of those players left, the Monaco would have been raped this summer. Bernardo Silva has gone to City. Bakayoko has gone to Chelsea. If we could still get one of Mbappe or Lemar, it would be a fantastic window though.
Can I ask if any of you see Leicester as a threat next season? Our owners are "genuinely" aiming for top six next season and I do expect our window to reflect it but will we be considered a threat or not? Hate the fact we have you first game away, we just can't ever seem to beat you, we either seem to get stuffed, score last minute own goals and even the last three seasons we've been mighty unlucky but we just can't seem to beat you so you must have been jumping for joy when the futures were released ha ha still got to beat you sometime right?
I think if we've tied up Laczette then the most probable would be a winger/attacking midfielder type rather than another CF. I wouldn't say no to Mbappe of course. But losing that many players for Monaco? I can't see it so the fee for Lemar would significantly go up as they would be an unwilling participant. But who knows...
Depends on Sanchez's future but it's hard guessing what Wenger has up his sleeve sometimes. I would take Mahrez in a heartbeat though. Proven quality and would fit into our side effortlessly. Surprised no anyone else hasn't gone in for him, like Liverpool.
I'm honestly surprised anyone is stalling at £50m to be honest which is peanuts these days and he's proven he can do it. Last season he just couldn't be arsed, had nothing to do with his ability. He's also only 26 and as you say he'll fit in effortlessly at most clubs, especially Arsenal and Chelsea where he doesn't have to defend so much, Liverpool he'd have to do too much running and he doesn't want to defend. For a team who'll just let him attack he'll be lethal and a steal at £50m.
Liverpool have just signed Salah and they have Mane too, so not surprised that they are not in for Mahrez. I'm in agreement with you, Mahrez is quality. Just because Leicester had a poor season last year, that doesn't suddenly make Mahrez a poor player. I think he'd flourish at Arsenal.
I agree. It is strange that he hasn't been snapped up earlier and he's in his prime for the next few years. He's been up there with the very best in the PL, his stats don't lie.
What you have to realise is yes we had a poor season but that was largely down to Ranieri changing our style of play. Once Shakey came in everyone and returned to last season's form, apart from Mahrez who was carried all season. We won six on the bounce despite him, it was like having 10.5 players on the pitch. I'm not just saying this but he was genuinely our worst player last season by some distance. He didn't look interested, he didn't deserve to play and a lot of fans were angry that Gray wasn't in the team. That said he absolutely 100% has the quality when he wants to.
Yeah but what about before they went in for Salah. It is surprising that no one's gone in for him, he has outstanding returns and would make a killing for us.
^ which incidentally is the same for Gray and Chilwell, I mean Gray is no worse than Sterling and a future England international but he plays for Leicester so only £22m. Liverpool refusing to pay £10m for Chilwell, even though he wasn't for sale at £10m and again he'll be the future England left back. If these two were anywhere else they'd be a fortune as well.
He is quality but there is no excuse not giving 100%. But in today's market he is worth over £40-£50m.
