Broadway down Ferensway used to be full of City before it closed in the early seventies - I think it reopened about 10 years later - no idea what happened since -

Beech Tree. Nearly choked on the pip from the lemon slice in my gin and tonic. No-one gave a ****, all too busy taking selfies and posing.

Another one, Cross Keys Beverley Road. Once walked in on a wedding party in the bar, I think it was the North Hull's version of the Krays. Beer was spilt and I was blamed, then fronted by about six pissed up blokes in ill fitting suits and equal numbers of large tattooed women all wanting to rip my head off. The landlord had to smuggle me out through the kitchen.

No one taking selfies that night in 1979. It was proper hairy.<laugh> Our mate whose funeral we went to a couple of years ago was there. He was quite indignant, telling them if he was that bad at his job he would have been sacked. What he was doing there I don't know as it wasn't somewhere he usually went, same with Shaun and Paul. Only time SB went in as far as I know.

That place on Holderness Road, Four In Hand, could be dodgy. Though asking loudly who is interested in this rubbish when a Rovers game was on TV won't have helped, will it?<laugh>

Red Lion, later Green Gingerman in the old bus station, was a rough place in the early 70's. Large fight virtually every Friday, Saturday and Sunday night at closing time which teemed out onto the pavement outside. Hilariously as the fighting continued one old bloke used to sing opera at the top of his voice, at least it sounded like opera, great entertainment whilst waiting for the last bus home.

Wow now that's a question, I would say late eighties early nineties, but not 100% sure could have been a bit earlier than that.
