I think you did too. the wording of the thing suggests to me you handed exactly what you wanted said to LFC and we just baout snuck in the "media reports" on the front
and I quote:
"Liverpool Football Club would like to put on record our regret over recent media speculation regarding Southampton Football Club and player transfers between the two clubs.
We apologise to the owner, board of directors and fans of Southampton for any misunderstanding regarding Virgil van Dijk.
We respect Southampton's position and can confirm we have ended any interest in the player."
IMO the last two sentences were demanded verbatim from Southampton. the giveaway is the "owner" that is far too specific.
I would however love to know what sort of "evidence" is held back to blackmail this grovelling apology and not given to force a transfer ban.
