As said before, really is up to VVD. They cannot sell him to anyone unless he agrees - he's just signed a four-year contract and that works both ways. Let's see Soton get all holier-than-thou when they're trying to shift a player for £70m and he'll only go to the team offering £50m.

its worse than that he signed a 6 year deal for 65k a week or so and has 5 years left.

the lad should be sacking his agent

That contract must have netted his agent a pile and he should never have been allowed meet klopp by agent nor talk publically either

Agent wants the sack 100%

Ian Doyle. That's how I interpreted what he said anyway when he said it was 'nuts' that Liverpool would only spend £100m. Tbh, we've been here before - IF we sell Sakho, Studge, Moreno, Markovich et al, and IF we get £100m for the lot (big if), we will spend £20m net at tops, I bet you.

On the price of VvD, some things to think about.
1) He 25, so he's got about 8-12years of career in him (8-10 at the top).
2) He's already considered to be one of the best CB in the world, has the potential to be the BEST.
3) He'll lead the defence, so we can sort out defending corners and freekicks.
4) It'll keep Lovren and Klavan out of the starting lineup.

Point remains though, IF all the guff about him wanting to come to Liverpool is true, Soton can't sell him to anyone else. I think as soon as City or Chelsea wave a huge salary (and Soton a huge loyalty cut) in front of his nose he'll soon forget whatever he promised Jurgen when he got down on one knee and proposed to him on Blackpool prom.

I'd agree and on the 8-10 years at the top the reality is we base that not on pace but the fact that at 32/33 he can still stand there and nut the ball away all day.

I dunno about lead mind. him and matip would be ideal to just place on 6 yard box and dare people to swing it in.

That is true
If you were offered 180k per week and were on 65k per wek but the club offerig were "just man city" with only "pep guardiola" as manager would you turn it down?

Theres nothing personal in it if he goes to where ever. its just business. he's got to make the most of the next 5 years.

Its the same as the poor saints fans who don't get their club lobbed this contract at him knowing full well they'd be selling on... why call him a lovren :) in this case. Its not like saints didn't bung his agent to get him to sign a ridiculous contract purely in their favour is it? His agent did him zero favours allowing him to sign anything over a 4 year deal.
 
I hope VvD doesn't do anything stupid like strike or refuse to play for his club. I f#cking hate that. I'd rather not have him than see him come to us after something like that. If we don't get him then we should chalk it down as a (another!) lesson learnt

Can't see Klopp being happy being told no though. This might run some yet.....and not in a good way! <yikes>
