Seeing Lambo's comment regarding his daughter buying a new BBQ, with 4 gas rings on it reminded me of sommat.

Gas outside grills are not ****ing BBQs.

A BBQ requires coals and fire. Woodchips if you're smoking or whatever. Then more meat than you can sensibly eat. Salad for the ladies of course. And must be cooked whilst drinking beer preferably, although individual circumstances can vary this.

But not gas.

Ever.

You might as well cook inside on the actual cooker you own ffs.

Gas BBQ my arse.

Discuss.

Obviously, gas BBQ's still have coal and it still tastes BBQ'd, so it's not the same as cooking inside.

But they weigh a ton and it's a pain in the arse to move about, so I got rid of mine and now get cheap ones that I throw away at the end of each summer.

I have never understood the concept of a 'gas bbq'. If someone can explain why they're not utterly pointless I'd be eager to listen.

Plus they always make me think of Hank Hill from King of the Hill.

I don't get home bbq's full stop. Why spend a fortune on a kitchen, only to go all primitive and eat a crispy icicle? They're for camping.

I take your point, but mine had a brick un' when I moved in so might as well use it.

I used to be coal only

Now I've gone gas, but use wood chips in it too for flavour

I do accept it's not proper BBQing though. But it's so convenient I cook outside all the time

And anyway if every time you use your cooker in the kitchen you grab a beer then people think you're an alcoholic, whereas if your cooking outside and not drinking beer people think you're weird...

Den.

You have a cigar and a whisky for breakfast on a Sunday.

Everyone knows the status of your sobriety.

Here now, turns out it hasn't got four rings, it's got one ring, but four separate gas burners on the BBQ.

Thought it seemed odd.
Mine's like that
Very good cooking options IMHO

Tell her not to invite Happy round though. He'll sulk about a lack of coal use (Happy is very much like Arthur Scargill in that respect )

Reminds me of an occasion a long time ago when a mate of mine decided to set light to one of his farts. Similar to a gas BBQ in many ways as he managed to burn his sausage.:emoticon-0104-surpr
