All this speculation is Rediculous. The club shouldn't be caught Knapping when it comes to appointing our new manager.
Frank De Boer is now odds-on on a few sites: https://www.oddschecker.com/football/football-specials/southampton/next-permanent-manager
Wasn't it last year that we had a shortlist of 3 (2 were named and a mystery guest) and it was the mystery one in Puel? Maybe this is the clubs go to move with new managers. Just like when they say "player x won't be sold" which is code for he will be off in a week
In other manager news, Sunderland were granted permisson to speak to Aberdeen manager Derek McInnes. Derek thought about it, and has decided to remain at Aberdeen where he has `unfinished work`. I don`t know how by many times he could have increased his salary there. A rare moment of class, in an often shabby business where big bucks usually tells.
Pellegrino Number 1 choice? https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/southampton-eye-pellegrino-for-managers-job-6mzk6s06j
I have read a few times that we want a manager that is out of work and that, that was one of the reasons Puel appealed to us. That should not come into the equation at all. We should look for which ever manager would do the best job, if we have to pay a couple of million then it doesn't matter. The fees you have to pay for managers are so insignificant compared to what we pay agents and for players, especially when you consider how much difference having the right manager can make.
I think that we should start a rumour, firstly here, then spreading out towards any Liverpool sites, that Jurgen Klopp wasn't trying to tap up van Dijk, it was Virgil who was tapping up Klopp. That should set a few hares running on Merseyside, and it will be entertaining, if only to see their sense of outrage at someone trying to steal their prize asset. OK, this is where it starts to become a bit shaky...
Do you know much about him before Alaves? They are minnows in La Liga so may have played that way to get results. Like Puel did here
His reputation has always been as a defensive coach. Valencia's fans turned on him, if I remember correctly, because they were ultra-defensive away from home, even in matches where they should have been going for the kill.
Agreed. It basically means we'll name two high profile ones who we won't get and then present the relatively unheard of/underwhelming one as if they were our first choice. Chances are that there's more than one unnamed as well.
