I haven't listened but if he said that he's right. Pundits and fans get far too hung up on formations, it should be entirely fluid to suit a situation changing multiple times during a match.
Q: "How much do you know about the squad you've inherited?" A: "Everything." Brilliant. Love him already. I truly truly hope this doesn't go tits up as I really want him to succeed, not just for City but for himself as he's really put himself out there.
In his interview he sounds like he cant wait to get started. And also very positive. English is excellent. Surprised how laid back he was about having staff that he has never worked with before.
This is excellent news. Pennock did a great job in charge of the Academy and his appointment now shows that Slutsky believes that we have some real talent in the youth ranks and that he and Pennock can accelerate their progress to play at Championship level. It will also give a great deal of encouragement to the same young players that they will be given the opportunity to challenge for first team places. Given the probable numerous departures to other clubs in the next few weeks this looks a realistic prospect. Well done Leo and Ehab for bringing Tony Pennock back.
I don't think it shows anything about The Slut to be honest, other than he didn't have any backroom staff lined up and was happy to take a suggestion.
bullshit this guy is a genius, trust me, he didn't come here to ****ing finish 20th.. we will be top 2 100%. get your bets in
I didn't say he had no other options. And even if I did say that it is not a criticism of his abilities as a coach or saying that we won't do well. Admit it, you're drunk aren't you?
i followed our managers, kane and bales approach.. they are successful. i thought id try and learn so no i am not drunk
Agreed. It was very encouraging to see a man who really seemed to be enjoying the challenge, who smiled a lot (in contrast to the inscrutable Silva, the dour Phelan, and the stressed out Bruce). He has clearly done his homework on the current squad, knows what he needs to bring in, and who he'd like to keep, and will adapt his system to who he has available, rather than trying to shoehorn his players into a rigid formation. I'm also looking forward to the new season, and while it might not bring instant promotion, I think the Allams have chosen a manager who will not make the mistakes in team selection that destroyed our prospects in the first half of last season, and could well take us back to the Premiership in 2019,
i expect silva gets sacked by christmas i coulda become manager in january and accomplished the same as silva what a failure he was
So pitchforks pointed at Slutsky when he starts Marshall in goal first match of the season. Bloody great.
Thanks for update! Very useful for those like me who just started to support. Are there any good first team players (let's call them local legends or icons) who will never leave? I hope no one minds about noob questions..
Nope. The nearest thing we have to a legend in the current squad is Jakupovic and the rumour is he's going to join Lester.
