Tell you what, seeing thick people on twitter arguing bollocks with each other really makes me think there should be some kind election test.
I can't remember a bigger mess than this. For the first time in 40 years, I'm actually worried about the state of this country. This is all happening because we voted to leave a Europe that was under attack from extremists. Now we've put ourselves up as a separate, and vulnerable, target.
I'm going to make this my last post on this thread because it has the potential to explode. People are going to view things differently. One man's terrorist is always going to be another man's freedom fighter. People are already arguing over the DUP. I can't see the IRA being overly happy about their enemies now being part of the British government.
I can see trouble brewing in Ulster. While the Unionists say that no deal has been done they admit they are in discussions. Power sharing broke down a while ago & talks have been held to get it back on track. The nationalist SDLP & the unionist UUP both got wiped out so NI is now a two party country. The DUP have links to the Loyalist paramilitaries. Just like Sinn Fein do to the IRA. So now that the Tories are now in bed with the Loyalists where does that leave the Irish Nationalists? As for the Brexit negotiations, the last thing the DUP will want is a hard border with the Republic. They also hold some very outdated ideals. Anti abortion, anti gay marriage for example. IMO, the DUP will screw May for everything they can get. I mean lets face facts. They are not gonna prop her up out of kindness. They see it as a way of bargaining & May is in no position to knock them back. Sinn Fein can't side with Labour as they refuse to take their seats in the Commons. I found her short speech after she'd been to see the Queen a tad bizarre & slightly embarrassing. "We are the biggest party, we won the most seats & the most votes. Only us & the Ulster Unionists can take this country forward. " OK, so DUP have the majority in NI but in the UK as a whole they are nothing. And furthermore, even if they do strike a deal with her she'll only have a majority of two. It wont last two minutes. There'll be another election this year IMO. When she called it I thought she's walk it with a landslide tbh. But...........Her campaign was an utter car crash & once they'd published their manifesto I kind of got the feeling it was gonna be tight. Junkers must be pissing himself. What bargaining power is Britain left with now?
My final word on this. May was viewed as generally doing a decent job, as reflected in the very high poll ratings she had. She went to the country and said that she basically wanted a big enough majority that she could do whatever she liked. The country said **** off. Corbyn ran a very effective campaign that even motivated the majority of young people to vote for the first time. He basically wanted a mandate to change the way we're moving politically into a much more leftist direction. The country said **** off (262 seats is short by a country mile - sorry Bri ). The question is now whether the Tories can stay reasonably popular in alliance with the ultra-conservative DUP to get a majority next time round or whether Corbyn can convince enough people that all his manifesto promises can actually be delivered if he gets a mandate. My personal view is that the Tories will be slightly better placed unless Labour get a different leader. That looks pretty unlikely now that JC can point to a massive improvement in popularity on his watch, I just don't think he will ever convince enough floating voters to get over the line. If he could, he'd have more than 262 seats. The likelihood is that neither side is going to be trusted enough by the majority for a while and we'd better get ready for a rough ride over the next couple of years. Still, there's always the football...

I made my view clear about Corbyn...not fit to lead the country...still believe that, but I do think he ran a very impressive campaign..My point, for what its worth, If Labour, under Corbyn after running a very good campaign cannot beat the Tories who ran the worst campaign most people have ever seen, its difficult to know, under Corbyn, if they ever would grab power. I doubt it. They had a glorious chance here.
Aye, so I see. Just been watching Sky news while I was eating my dinner. There's more & more of them becoming very vocal now. All falling apart for them, total ****ing train crash. Couldn't happen to a better bunch. I don't think they have a ****ing clue in what direction to go now. They're about as competent as the ****ing Chuckle Brothers. From me to you Barry.
