If the three in were Kolasinac, Mahrez and Mbappe, I'd be well chuffed.

    Yup.

    -------------------------Cech-------------------------
    --------Holding----Gabriel---Koscielny---------
    Bellerin---Carzorla-----Xhaka------Kolasinac
    -------Ozil-------M'bappe------Sanchez---------

Bench: Giroud, Mahrez, Mertesacker, Ramsey, Wellbeck, Monreal. GK
    - Walcott, Wilshere, Elneny, Chamberlain.

Strong squad with good balance - maybe just lacks a powerful DM.

I would swap Gabriel for Kos and put Monreal LB, and possibly play Mahrez on the right ahead of Bellerin.

We should rename this the fantasy thread. People actually giving this absurd rumour legs? You'd think us buying a 19 year old for over £90m and competing with Real Madrid would make it a non story.

The media really know how to pray on the desperation of the fans.

My day job is working on web analytics and web related tools such as Pulsar. This particular tool is very powerful and allows users to conduct searches on any trends across social media platforms and web forums. So all they have to do is type in "desperate arsenal fans" and you can imagine what they can come up with. I'm sure Media outlets aren't the only ones using this, the Arsenal webteam are probably using something like this too.

I am happy to apologise if I am proved wrong, but we won't buy Mbppe and we will sell Sanchez :(

Wenger has said we have a strong enough squad with 2-3 buys to add, to challenge for the League.

He then plans to sell 6 squad players that then weakens the squad, and will sell our best player.
Wenger has brought in the usual no-one heard of striker to replace Sanago (we will loan him out) and Perez will be let go without being given a chance.

If we spend £50m in Mayhrez then it will come from Sanchez sale money.

If we don't buy Mayhrez then we get Jack and Santi back just in time for them to be injured in pre season

Mbappe is off course a long shot. I doubt anybody on here expects it too happen.

The the bid does show some ambition. Maybe if they cant land Mbappe there is still the likes of Lacazette, Aubamayang etc.. It shows the club is willing to put money on the line this summer.

They get no credit for going after targets that they have no chance of getting, these are non stories drummed up my the media. Saying that, they have the money to get a genuinely top striker and i will hold off lauding their attempts until they actually land a top CF. We've all been on the Benzema, Higuin, Suarez and the list goes on boat.

Its a tricky one, we genuinely need strengthening to get back into the mix for the top 4 trophy. The biggest issue we have is retaining Sanchez and strengthening further. Losing him will set us back and i can't see us buying a proper Sanchez replacement and a top CF. Wenger doesn't like buying multiple top players, he usually goes for 1 marquee player and a couple of decent players. We have the budget but can Wenger and co stomach a £100m+ window? Not likely.

Olivier Giroud warns Arsenal he 'won't settle' for limited playing time next season
The French forward was speaking in a press conference at Les Bleus' Clairefontaine home when he moaned about not getting enough minutes.

"Wenger is counting on me even though he hasn't used me much," said the 30 year-old, before firing a warning.
"I won't settle for such limited playing time."

Barcelona confident of £45m Hector Bellerin deal from Arsenal but line up Nelson Semedo as back-up option
Barcelona are aiming to get a £45m deal done for Arsenal’s Hector Bellerin before the end of June, but will turn to Benfica’s Nelson Semedo if the signing proves problematic.

"It's great to know about the interest of Barca, the club where I grew up. I'm an Arsenal player and we'll see what happens.

"I know a lot of things are being talked about but as a player, the club haven't told me anything. A lot can happen this summer. "

"The truth is that every player of a top level wants to play in the Champions League, especially when I've been playing in it for two years. As a team, we didn't qualify. It's something we want to correct, but as a player, I repeat: it's an important competition.

"The fact that he [Wenger] is renewing doesn't change much. I'd have been happy with any other coach because I have a contract.

"My family had to return to Barcelona. I have a tougher time now because I'm a family person. It'll be a new challenge."

Giroud isn't clearly happy and will probably go if we get a new CF and someone decent comes in for him. Not sure Wenger would be happy to read those comments from Giroud, he doesn't like people dictating terms to him.

The Bellerin thing could become a real issue if Barca come sniffing with some real intent. His comments above make you think that his head could be turned, when you factor in his family moving back home to Barcelona, being a family man and us not being in the Champions League. He also says that "Anything can happen". Not exactly, i'm Arsenal till i die is it.

I do hope we don't lose Bellerin or Giroud. I genuinely believe that losing any of those two will set us back. Both will be key players going into next season.

However, if we do lose them, it would mean buying quite a few new players. It's something we traditionally don't do. So i expect we will pull out all the stops to get them signed up.

In all our fantasy rumours I'm surprised nobody mentioned Lukaku. See he's picked the club he's going to and I think it's pretty clear it'd be Chelsea but he'd have been a cracking signing for us. Strong, quick, used to the league and only getting better with age.

If Bellerin wants to leave then signing that long contract was a big f*cking mistake. Almost as bad as the cornrow decision.

If Barca come in for Bellerin, we need to ****ing lease them. All the cards are in our favour when it comes to Bellerin thanks to his long term contract.

Well "click bait" is a phenomenon of the Internet age.
The printed form does it too (though I don't know whether the "back page"
headline actually translates into increased paper sales etc) .

On Spurs 606, we have a separate "Hack watch" article where we try to
separate the above from the more serious transfer-related stuff.

Good idea. It would also help in reducing the amount of silly articles that the Media post about us during the transfer season.

What's the point if our Management won't use the money to buy someone top quality to replace him with. We could off-load him for £100m and still only use £15m for a replacement and then sit on the money.

Oh that will not stop (more so during the click bait age) . :)
Just a nice means to collectively laugh at the more pathetic/absurd
    stuff in a confined space.

Actually all we have to do is copy this thread as almost all the rumours turn out to be just paper talk.
it suits the board for papers to discuss big name players joining us as it sounds good and doesn't cost them any money an Wenger will say that we were in for him but were priced out of the market - we have heard this **** every summer since Wenget joined and nothing will change whilst he is in charge of transfers

when was the last time we were in for a big name and got him ? Bergkamp !

all our big name signings recently have left from a bigger club after they were no longer required - Chech, Ozil, and Sanchez.

    True.

So perhaps the emphasis has to change (getting the type of player
who will do an actual job required rather than placate the supporters etc) .

On that front, Arsenal for now still have the chance to outbid for
a lot of that talent, unless a Sugga Daddy FC does the usual "land grab" .

Forbes' top 10 most valuable football teams
    1. Manchester United $3.69bn (£2.86bn)
    2. Barcelona $3.64bn (£2.82bn)
    3. Real Madrid $3.58bn (£2.77bn)
    4. Bayern Munich $2.71bn (£2.1bn)
    5. Manchester City $2.08bn (£1.61bn)
    6. Arsenal $1.93bn (£1.5bn)
    7. Chelsea $1.85bn (£1.43bn)
    8. Liverpool $1.49bn (£1.15bn)
    9. Juventus $1.26bn (£976m)
    10. Tottenham $1.06bn (£821m)

I don't want to hear any ballbags that we can't compete on transfers or afford top players. We are the 6th most richest football club in the world for ****s sake.
